For over a decade my aim is to make your counseling experience as fulfilling and meaningful as possible by creating a customized treatment plan that leads to real, tangible results. I am passionate about the impact of addiction and trauma on individuals and families, and specialize in helping those struggling with chronic relapse, especially when the traditional treatment models (30 days in residential rehab, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient) haven't helped in the past. The goal of therapy is to achieve sobriety, but more importantly to heal the relationships of the harms caused by years of addictive behavior.

Whether you are working through past trauma , recent trauma , getting through rough patches, seeking greater self-satisfaction, or looking for encouragement on a spiritual awakening, I can provide support. Exploring these life issues begins with a relationship built on trust, respect, warmth, and humor. Therapy, at its core, is an exchange of energy between therapist and client, an energetic reciprocation to begin the healing process, which is paramount to guiding a client to embrace their authentic self. This is my approach to assisting others to move through and into a better version of themselves.

I specialize in sex therapy which includes things like education, pain, trauma /abuse, and LGBTQI.
Each person is unique and so is what they come in with. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. In fact, I pull from different treatment protocols to find what best fits you. This isn't a place where I tell you what to do or give advice, but a place where I join in with you in your process and we collaborate together to meet your needs. My goal is for therapy to be as efficient as possible, working through what we need to each session and maximizing a felt connection by undoing aloneness.

I have been utilizing EMDR and attachment theory, narrative therapy and, other interventions to help out to reduce anxiety, depression, and trauma from the past.
I have been working with clients of all ages including adolescents, the young adult population, children, and parents throughout my career through clinical interventions for challenging mental health issues, or coaching for the parents to go through the tough time for their teens. I believe that the most powerful thing during the therapy is the person's unique strength and desire for change. Emotional regulation is the key while rebuilding the new neurological pathway for our brain to process difficult life experiences.

With over 25 years of clinical experience, I am well versed in several scientifically based treatment modalities (cognitive behavioral, interpersonal process, trauma informed, and feminist/multicultural).
Along the journey of life, we will encounter joy, connection, laughter, and a true zest for living. At times, however, we may also experience pain, heartbreak, and an inability to find our light. As a result, our lives may feel disjointed and difficult to navigate. It is during these times that the support of a knowledgeable and caring professional can assist you in reconnecting with your purpose, inner strength, and potential for embracing a rewarding life. The decision to seek help can feel overwhelming yet also be an opportunity to discover how to break negative patterns and find new solutions.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
