I specialize in working with couples and have advanced training Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is 1 of only 2 research-validated treatments for healing relational distress or disconnect.
Making the choice to attend to personal or relational healing is an act of courage. The courage to show up. The courage to be seen in all the beautiful, difficult and complex parts of being human. As a fellow traveler on the road to growth, we all need help along the way. The stigma of counseling is, thankfully, moving aside and making way for us to create purposeful living as well as strong, secure relational bonds that have far reaching benefits for couples and families. I have a collaborative and humanistic approach to co-creating an environment where you feel safe, seen and honored.

EFT- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy- I have been practicing EFT with couples since 2017 and I'm currently working toward EFT Certification.
Relationships are hard, under the best of circumstances. When "extra" challenges-like the pressure of parenting young children, struggles with communication & conflict, addiction, or life stressors, are added onto the challenge, it can be so overwhelming. We each are a result of many experiences- our families of origin, our current families, our social & cultural experiences. Regardless of circumstances, I believe that we all want connection, & understanding. Our humanness is made up social, emotional, spiritual & physical elements. All of these are connected & important. To respect, acknowledge & nurture these truths is my goal.

I specialize in a therapy modality called Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I enjoy caring for my clients, many of whom struggle to feel loved and cared for daily. I work with individuals suffering from anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, major life changes, and couples and families who experience chronic relationship conflict. Many of my clients feel like their emotional needs aren’t being met. They feel guilty for wanting more in their lives and have difficulty advocating for themselves. I also draw from my own experience as a NICU mother to work with other mothers and families who are involved in the NICU or another medical setting.

I received extensive training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy at the UT Southwestern Family Studies Center where I worked with diverse clientele from all walks of life.
Do you feel like you've lost your partner to incessant working and don't know how to connect anymore? Maybe you've been cheated on and don't know if you can get through the heart break. The relationship dance that hijacks couples into feeling stuck, distressed and disconnected is pretty overwhelming and can leave both people feeling lost about how to make things better. Does that describe some of what brought you to this page? Welcome, I'm glad you're here!

I have completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) externship and am working towards EFT certification.
Healthy relationships promote happiness, security, success, and even physical health! Moreover, healthy relationships lay the foundation for future relationships, so how you interact with your spouse and your child will impact your child's future relationships. I work with both families and couples on improving their relationships by building trust and open communication. Much of my work has been with families with children or teenagers. I also have experience helping families deal with various illnesses in collaboration with doctors and psychiatrists. I also work with individuals to reduce stress and improve confidence.

I specialize in helping increase a couple's connection and understanding, even after an affair, using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Instead of spending time looking for a therapist, let's get started working on the obstacles that may be hindering your quality of life. I love working with people in their process of self-improvement and helping them tackle obstacles that make them feel stuck or distressed. I focus on providing a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing struggles and successes. I use talk therapy and EMDR therapy to assist people working through difficult issues and to help them increase positive connections in their lives. Give me a call. Let's see if working together would be a good fit for you!

My primary approaches are rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS).
I specialize in working with college-aged and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, social anxiety, family/relationship conflict, and low self-esteem. I have such a heart for working with clients of this age range. I remember that time in my own life as being one that was full of growth. I was blessed to have had pivotal people in my life who helped me learn ways to navigate life during such a volatile time and encouraged me to become who I am today. Because I had this blessing, I have always wanted to be able to pay it forward and offer the same help and guidance that I received at that age.

Using Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and incorporating Mindfulness, I will meet you with a hopeful, strength-based awareness of where you are and support you to where you want to be.
Choosing to seek outside support is not an easy step, but one that shows great courage and strength. We each carry our own experiences that are shaped by our families, our social and cultural identities, as well as our own internal values and goals. But let’s talk real for a second, being human in a perfectionist world is not an easy walk. Life experiences can bring challenges where we begin to feel disconnected from others, ourselves, and even from our experiences. I come from a perfectionistic background where grace was given to others, but not to myself. I understand the struggle of self-esteem issues, and depression.

In today's world, many of us are cut off and alienated from our true, authentic self - a healthy, balanced ego state. Our bodies produce symptoms in an effort to alert us that we are out of balance. Sadly, we often ignore these red flags or, we attempt to medicate the symptoms without working to understand the root cause of the physiological manifestation. In every individual there exists a desire to live a life unburdened by excessive guilt and shame coupled with the freedom to enjoy a fuller and less restrictive emotional experience. It is here, that I meet you. Take a look at my newly updated website: betterwithbianca.com

You love your partner and don't want to end up divorced, but you're scared. Deep down you wonder, is this all there is? You are frustrated that you keep having the same fight. You wonder if things will ever get better. Maybe if you learned how to communicate, things would get better? But you do fine communicating with everyone else. How is it that your partner knows just how to push your buttons? You feel hurt and frustrated so quickly. You don't know how to tell them how much you miss them and long for that connection. There just doesn't seem to be much energy left for you or your relationship, including intimacy.

My focus is on relationships and the struggles, hurdles and challenges that many strain to overcome when those relationships face adversity, hurt, and life's trials. Many struggle under the overbearing weight of pain, loneliness, misplaced trust and disappointments. I walk along side clients and give them a safe environment to speak their truth, dig deep into their hurts, heal and move forward in a freedom that can only be found with releasing the past and grasping a renewed sense of self. Clients gain tools that can be used over and over and past to others as they heal, grow and share.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
