Whether you are working through past trauma, recent trauma, getting through rough patches, seeking greater self-satisfaction, or looking for encouragement on a spiritual awakening, I can provide support. Exploring these life issues begins with a relationship built on trust, respect, warmth, and humor. Therapy, at its core, is an exchange of energy between therapist and client, an energetic reciprocation to begin the healing process, which is paramount to guiding a client to embrace their authentic self. This is my approach to assisting others to move through and into a better version of themselves.

In therapy, we slow things down enough to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. I am compassionate for what you are feeling but I am also interested in the why. Together, we untangle the patterns, build emotional regulation skills, and strengthen your internal foundation so that your relationships and day-to-day life feel more grounded and more at peace. And isn't that the goal? I work with adults, teens and couples.

In addition to providing individual counseling for teen depression, teen anxiety, ASD, teen self-harm, and other teen-related issues, I also provide teen support groups. Group is one of the most powerful tools in helping teens grow and get better alongside other teens. When teens realize they are no longer alone they begin to see there is help and there is hope and want to be a part of a small community with those who understand. Each teen support group is led by a trained therapist with a small group of 4-7 members and ensures positive productive conversation as well as the development of new coping skills.

Do you ever feel like daily life is a struggle, or that navigating big changes seems impossible? Maybe you’ve been carrying the weight of trauma, complex emotions, and experiences that leave you feeling misunderstood—like no one truly gets how your mind works, or worse, you don’t even fully understand it yourself. If you’ve faced discrimination or battled with self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or dissociation, it can be hard to find a therapist who truly gets it. But the good news is that you don’t have to do this alone.

ARC's philosophy is to provide a unique and tailored comprehensive assessment and analysis process. Rather than domain-based testing to search for a specific diagnosis, we evaluate to uncover, discover and provide a blueprint highlighting the unique ways that each person’s brain functions. We approach every case, client and family with a clean slate for the purpose of an unbiased approach to performing comprehensive neuropsychological testing. Through the testing process, Dr. Gayoso and her team interpret and analyze the results to give each patient and family a blueprint, rather than a diagnosis, as to how their brain works.

My style of therapy encompasses the idea of motivating through speaking your truth. I reach people with my honest, genuine, and real sense of intuition about challenges they face. My goal for clients is to increase personal awareness of problematic behaviors they want to change and then engage in finding new ways to incorporate change in their lives with struggling with power, control, depression, trauma, relationship problems, loss of identity, stillbirth, grief, and divorce. I completed my PhD through researching and treating emotion avoidance strategies with the population of individuals with PNES.

You may intellectually understand your experiences while still feeling the impact emotionally or physically. You’ve gained insight, talked things through, and maybe even tried therapy. I work with individuals (ages 16+) who feel caught between intellectual understanding and the body’s learned survival responses. Many of my clients live with trauma, dissociation, long-standing stress, or chronic pain that hasn’t responded to conventional "talk therapy." My approach integrates both meaning-oriented and body-based tools to help address the brain-body disconnect the effects of trauma can create.

We are hard-wired for connection, growth, purpose and joy. Sometimes we just need a little help. Every stage of life challenges us to discover ourselves and others in new ways. This can be exciting and rewarding. It can also be confusing and scary. We may start to notice patterns in our lives that cause us to stumble, get stuck, doubt ourselves, or settle for way less than is actually possible. Counseling can be an incredible source of support and a source of new insight and skills as we work to change these patterns… and we can change patterns, break cycles and experience more satisfying love, freedom, joy and security.

Each person is unique and so is what they come in with. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. In fact, I pull from different treatment protocols to find what best fits you. This isn't a place where I tell you what to do or give advice, but a place where I join in with you in your process and we collaborate together to meet your needs. My goal is for therapy to be as efficient as possible, working through what we need to each session and maximizing a felt connection by undoing aloneness.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.
Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.
How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
