You're tired of being disappointed in yourself. Your emotions are out of control, and you don't know how to fix it. It seems like you go from 0-60 in just the blink of an eye, even though you don't want to. Sometimes you do things you aren't proud of - only to deal with the fallout later. You find it difficult to maintain relationships, and you're worried you might never get better.

"Why can't i stop drinking or using drugs? It is causing so many problems, yet i continue to use! I am obsessed with when i will get my next drink/drug and it seems that it has become about the most important part of my day!" If this sounds familiar, then you may be "normal." Many who drink or use drugs have crossed a line somewhere and lost the choice to quit. I work with clients who are desperately trying to quit but have had little success. I also work with the family members who have reached their own "bottom," I offer individual counseling, family meetings and/interventions. on line, by phone or in-person.

So 2023 is maybe...hopefully better. But something still feels off. You're not nuts (yet) but you're stuck somewhere between stressed and emotional wreck. But we've got this. Happiness, success, fun & play are within reach. You just need to re-find your momentum in life, work, career & relationships. But zero energy & zero motivation are holding you back. Got some brain fog? Your struggle is admirable and it sucks. But misery IS optional. Let's start kicking back at life. End the negative thinking, let's learn different/better ways of thinking/behaving to get what you want in life. Surviving is okay...but thriving is SO much better!

In therapy, you and I will work to build a relationship where you feel support and encouragement to explore the areas you desire to change. We will look at the meaning you have placed on certain areas of your life, as well as your strengths and abilities to address life situations.

It's a fact that challenges are apart of our lives. Your challenges don't have to overwhelm or overtake you. I am committed to helping you to be successful in your journey. I am committed to helping you identify and do the work to be your best for yourself and for those whose lives you touch. Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
