Hi, I’m Ali! I am passionate about helping youth learn and grow. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at The Bug and Bee and absolutely love it! Beforehand, I taught children in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade for 14 years. I also have teenagers at home so I understand the difficulties life can throw at them. Between my experience in education and personal experience with foster-to-adopt, I have been familiarized with anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, reactive attachment disorder, trauma and much more.

The patients I work with have experienced a traumatic event or have a complex trauma history. They may be experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. This might include; nightmares, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, irritability, or anxiety. These patients deserve a safe space to work through their traumatic experiences. It is my goal to help patients reduce their trauma symptoms and heal.

As depression, anxiety, grief, and other mental health issues get bigger, our lives get smaller. They weigh us down, isolate us, and make even simple things seem difficult. Frustration, shame, and confusion from the constant struggle can add to the weight we are already carrying. Friends and loved ones may inadvertently make things worse by offering advice or trying to make us feel better. We put off seeking help because we feel guilty, embarrassed, or don’t want to burden people (especially when we are the "Strong" one who usually helps others). It can happen to anyone. The good news is that treatment works and therapy helps!

Life can be so hard to maneuver sometimes. No one is immuned from difficulty, setbacks and hard times. Sometimes it's good to talk to someone that will listen and sit with you during such difficulties. I'd like to be that person. I've been married for 33 years. I have a 26 year old son and a 22 year old daughter. I'm a Desert Storm Vet. I also spent many years in the software sales industry before becoming a therapist. I feel this gives me some credibility in many situations so I'm not coming to the table with a lack of experience. In my spare time, I like to hunt, fish, golf, hike and most anything outdoors.

Life can feel unmanageable at times. Therapy is an effective resource to help you through these moments when feeling stuck, overwhelmed and burnt out. Life is short. You can live the life that you want to live! When there is so much negativity going on, it can be hard to keep going and have hope.

As a person-centered, strengths based therapist, you are the leader in our sessions. We will work together to increase self-acceptance and self-esteem, while identifying areas of growth in your life. Throughout our sessions, we will navigate difficult life transitions to instill hope and satisfaction, while emphasizing mindfulness and healing. Sharing your life with someone can seem daunting, so I strive to create a non-judgmental, neurodivergent affirming, and accepting environment where you feel safe to explore challenging ideas and get to know yourself

You’re trapped in a unhappy marriage. You thought you were marrying the person of your dreams. Feelings of love, excitement and hope for a wonderful life together have been replaced with pain, anger, and loneliness. Your efforts to make it better have led to more conflict and you feel misunderstood and more alienated than ever.

At times, we need perspective, support, and guidance to navigate the world in which we live. I believe there is something to learn from everyone and I would be honored to assist you or your loved one in the journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing. From a young age, I have always been passionate about helping others. My passion for people and connection led me to earning a degree in counseling. My journey was greatly impacted when I was personally diagnosed with cancer. Determined to help others see the same hope and healing, I wanted to use my experience to bring someone else out of their own darkness.

I am passionate about helping clients cultivate a sense of meaning and vibrance in their lives. So many of us feel isolated and overwhelmed by the weight of the world. Whether you are grappling with the reality of oppression, a life transition, terminal illness, grief, trauma recovery, identity exploration, or a spiritual concern, I want to walk with you as you make sense of your relationship to yourself and the world.

I enjoy working with clients with diverse lived experiences. With neurodivergent clients, I work within the neurodiversity paradigm, recognizing neurodivergence as a component of identity, rather than pathology. Together we may explore gender and sexual identity, relationship dynamics, life transitions, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing tendencies, and a variety of mental health patterns . My approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered, meaning that I treat each client as the expert of their own life and emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship.

I especially enjoy working with couples who are looking for ways to strengthen or repair their marriage. The children and teens in these families may also be experiencing challenges in coping with the stress of life, and I work with them to develop healthier ways to engage with parents, friends and school.
