My ideal clients are women who feel like they're drowning while trying to keep everyone else afloat. You're the working mom wondering if you'll ever feel like yourself again, or the professional woman whose anxiety makes every decision feel overwhelming. Maybe you're navigating a major life transition - new baby, marriage, career change - and even positive changes feel scary. You want to stop just surviving and start thriving, but you're not sure how. You need practical tools that work in real life, not just theory. Most importantly, you want to feel understood by someone who truly gets what you're going through.

I have experience working with clients who want to process anxiety, depression, religious trauma, sexual stress, peer relationships, and family/marital issues. I believe that therapy is most helpful when it functions as a safe space for clients to come exactly as they are. In all my work, I am passionate about creating a welcoming space that fosters compassion, authenticity, openness—and hopefully joy. My goal is to support my client as they find their own unique path towards healing, because I believe no one should walk through their struggles alone.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) who believes in internal power and strength. It may feel like internal power and strength is non-existent because there are times when situations and circumstances seem to get the best of life. A way of escape may be to indulge in unhealthy habits (such as substances) that make things worse. This is where I can be of assistance because I work with individuals struggling with addictions (ages 18-65). If you need help in this area, therapy can be scary but courageous and a necessary step for you.

We begin by building a strong foundation in understanding your protective system, honoring the parts of you that have worked hard to keep you safe. Once self-regulation skills are in place, we move into reprocessing traumatic experiences from a grounded sense of safety. This process deepens insight into what happened, highlights your resilience, and, through self-compassion, allows you to release what no longer serves you and reconnect with your purpose, relationships, and authentic self.

in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I have been trained in EMDR and specialize in play therapy & talk therapy concerning Women's Issues.
My name is Lauren Bennett, and I am an EMDR trained LPC Associate in Fort Worth, Texas (supervised by Courtney Guhl Huckabay, M.Ed., LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC). We all get stuck sometimes. After we've run out of all of our internal resources we may need help. In those times, we may not be able to see hope, so we borrow it from someone else. That's where I meet my clients, offering space for them to share their story and find healing.

I also have a great desire and many year of experience in working with women's issues.
I also work with Pathological Gamblers and their family members. The gambling not only has a negative impact on the family financially, it has a direct impact upon relationships within the family. If the gambler is not ready to get help, there is still help for the family.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
