Psychodynamic Therapists in Fort Worth, TX
My work is grounded in psychodynamic therapy and collaborative therapeutic assessment.
My clients are adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite like themselves, even if they’re used to managing a lot on their own. Many come during periods of change, after difficult experiences, or when familiar patterns in relationships or work no longer feel sustainable. I often work with individuals in highly demanding professions, including healthcare and aviation.
I use an insight-oriented approach to help clients understand the deeper patterns shaping their experience, while also offering practical tools when needed. Together, we work toward clarity, relief, and more sustainable ways of living and relating.

Geeks, by traditional definition, are passionate about anthologies and characters from a variety of fictional, fantasy, and virtual formats that are sometimes niche or unpopular, creating feelings of relatedness towards avatar experiences in an often lonely life. . However, with the rise of popular media over the past several years, (e.g. Big Bang Theory, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Marvel’s Avengers, Anime, etc.) self-identification as a “geek” or “nerd” has become more mainstream. We practice this type of therapy and welcome you to come and grow through the practice of Geek Therapy

"Taking courageous steps to a hopeful future" is our motto. Therapy is a very personal and intimate relationship in which you should feel comfortable and not judged. I strive to give you my all, so long as you're ready and willing. I do firmly believe that our upbringing affects how we view and interact with the world. However, it does not need to define us.

Something shifted, and the way you've always handled things isn't holding. I work with adults on what aging does — to the person aging, and to the people standing closest to them.
The parent whose adult child stopped speaking to them. The parent who was the one to step back. The adult child who sets a boundary and then spends the week second-guessing it. The adult managing care for a parent who wasn't good to them growing up.
The losses nobody thinks to ask about — a pet, a friendship, a job.
If you're the one everyone else's needs land on, or your own aging frightens you more than you say out loud, that belongs here too.

Are you a high functioning “fixer,” with most of your daily experience organized around finding and fixing problems? In some ways, I bet the tension and release of this cycle is really gratifying, and maybe it comes with a bit of money and status too. But what do you do when you encounter things you can’t fix, or that aren’t yours to fix, or that don’t even want to be fixed? What’s it really like for you when the world reminds you that you aren’t always in control?

I am person centred to my core and heavily influenced by psychodynamic theories which involve exploring how the past impacts us in the current day, identifying patterns, defence mechanisms and working with countertransference.
My ideal client is someone who feels stuck in recurring emotional or relationship patterns and is longing for clarity, stability, and deeper self-understanding. This includes couples, adults, and adolescents who may navigating low self-worth, attachment wounds, betrayal trauma, friendship or relationship conflicts, and the lingering impact of childhood experiences.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
