My ideal clients are the helpers, the high-achievers, and the deep thinkers who find themselves constantly braced for the next thing to go wrong. I work best with individuals who feel held captive by a racing mind, perfectionism, or the physical exhaustion that comes from living in a constant state of high alert. Whether you are navigating professional burnout, social anxiety, or the heavy weight of family responsibilities, I specialize in supporting those who are ready to trade their constant what-ifs for a sense of grounded confidence.

I focus on EMDR therapy for Trauma and Addictions (of all kinds): alcohol, benzodiazepines, opiates, sex, shopping, and eating issues. I work with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and Personality Disorders consistently. When working with a client, we first establish goals that the client identifies as their primary focus and then explain options such as plans for different types of therapy and steps to the goal from personalized plans the therapist and client create together for a step-by-step process to ensure the client moves forward.

I love being a counselor, helping clients make changes that fit their lives. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, difficulties at home, life transitions: having the support of a counselor who can magnify your strengths, draw on what is working in your life and bring these skills and attributes to find solutions to what is not working well in your life right now-that is very empowering. I believe in relationship building, supporting the client as they examine the changes they feel will improve their life. Making the changes the client wants to make is vital.

Life does not come with a manual. We have all faced life’s challenges, with some being more difficult than others. These challenges have shaped who we are and how we interact with the world around us. However, we can work together to change the outcomes of these experiences, build coping skills, and empower you. I am not just another therapist -- I truly enjoy seeing my clients grow and improve. As long as someone wants to work on themselves, I will be there along the way.

If you’re feeling stuck, skeptical about therapy, or wondering if it’s right for you, I’m here to offer an approach that’s tailored to those who may feel therapy isn’t “for them.” Many find it challenging to open up about struggles like anxiety, anger, or even deeper pain from trauma, but these feelings don’t have to hold you back. Whether you’re working through difficult emotions, managing depression, or dealing with relationship conflict, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help you find real, practical solutions that work for you.

When my children died, I lost everything—my identity, my faith, my sense of who I was. My conservative Christian upbringing offered no answers. I faced unbearable grief and a spiritual crisis that shattered everything I believed. Through my healing journey, which included psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, I found peace. That experience transformed my practice. I now specialize in traumatic grief, religious trauma, and psychedelic integration. I work with the bereaved, ex-evangelicals, and those integrating profound experiences. I understand these wounds from living them.

Whether you are dealing with anxiety, stress, behavior challenges, or difficult transitions, my passion is helping families and kids learn how to cope with life’s challenges while guiding them to discover their strengths. The last few years following the Pandemic have been extra hard on families and individuals, especially if you are a parent of a child or teen with emotional or behavioral needs. You are hurting because you see your child or teen struggling and are unsure how to help them. If you are experiencing overwhelming stress or anxiety, getting help for you or your child is taking a brave step forward.

27 years working with people who fuel themselves with anxiety find a different fuel source! Like if you just push through one more task, hit one more goal, or check one more thing off the list… then you’ll finally be allowed to relax. But every time you get close to "enough," the finish line moves. You climb higher, push harder, and achieve more—yet the underlying exhaustion remains! What started as healthy drive has turned into a cycle that quietly costs you your peace of mind. We break that loop together. My approach to therapy is active, practical, and focused on real relief—not just talking about the problem.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
