I get you. You are struggling with conflict, distress, and poor communication. Your relationship with your partner or your family is suffering and you don’t know how to improve it. You’re struggling to overcome difficulties of your past, gain a sense of self-worth, develop new relationship patterns, and become your best self. You are overwhelmed with complex trauma or co-dependency or depression or anxiety. If you are an executive, you have some very specific challenges and could use some empathy and emotional support as well as help clarifying goals, setting objectives, and gaining self-awareness.

As a marriage and family therapist, I believe in exploring the ways in which a client's interaction with the world around them can heal even the most fractured of relationships with others and even ourselves.
Relationships can bring both joy or suffering in our lives. Whether its the relationship we have with ourselves, our close loved ones, or our society, they all have an immediate impact on our self-perception and worth. We all want to feel loved, accepted, and heard. Unfortunately, there are several obstacles thrown our way that hinder us from feeling these things. Trauma, loss, conflict, and lack of purpose can all be factors that leave us feeling lonely, depressed, anxious and angry. Luckily, there is hope in even the darkest of places.

We as humans tend to get stuck in unhealthy cycles, and have a difficult time seeing a way out. Many of us want to get unstuck, but struggle to see how. There also tends to be a lack of motivation, because at a certain point we have tried so many times and failed. We wonder if it's worth it to keep trying. These unhealthy cycles may cause depression, anxiety, alcohol dependency, relational or marital issues, or an overall confusion about our life's direction and purpose. Many of these unhealthy cycles may also be made worse because of past trauma that has never been dealt with. I am here to help the person who wants to get unstuck.

When we feel stuck in a problem it can feel like we are never going to get out of it. It could feel like there is unending cycles that are too difficult to break and sometimes feel hopeless. Does this sound familiar? Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, relational issue, or personal struggle? The transitions, in life, that individuals are working to navigate can seem impossible. I work with young adults/adults who deal with stress, anxiety, depression, relational conflict, and other mental health issues.

I can perform Marital and Premarital counseling for all couples as well.
Reaching out takes great courage, especially when someone is seeking guidance. Life has the tendency to cause people to cope in ways that are not necessarily beneficial. They may develop problems like depression or anxiety as a result of stressors. Or, they may turn towards abusing substances as a way to change how they feel. Reaching out for help during this time may be scary and seem impossible. My goal, as a therapist, is to come alongside my clients so that they don’t walk alone through whatever may be troubling them. I hope to be able to help anyone struggling to deal with life on life’s terms.

My years of experience prepared me to deal with issues related to marriage , family conflict, grief, divorce, self-esteem, substance abuse, trauma and much more.
The year we have all had has been unprecedented. People who have never sought mental health services before are finding themselves in need of emotional support and therapeutic intervention. People are dealing with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts as well as a multitude of life stressors. I have worked in mental health services for the past five years and saw firsthand how the pressures of today are causing individuals and families to find themselves at odds with their own world view. Some want answers on how to get to a new form of normalcy. It is clear that the world has changed and what worked before, may not work now.

I specialize in STRESS/ANXIETY management and RELATIONSHIPS (Family Systems) I believe that the greatest gift you can give your children is a HEALTHY MARITAL dynamic.
Each of us desires more MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS. According to the APA, chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. STRESS and its cousins: ANXIETY and DEPRESSION, invade our lives physically, mentally and spiritually and impact our relationships. I help my clients learn to respond to STRESS in a healthier manner and thus, become taken over by their emotions less often. I love helping people create space for more JOY, AUTHENTICITY, INTIMACY, and HUMANITY.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
