I specialize in individuals struggling with relationship problems, infidelity, areas related to sexuality and sexual functioning, family of origin issues, and individuals who are struggling with transition to empty nest.
I believe the human experience to be a storied experience and our connection to others bound by the stories we share. With that in mind I work with clients exploring the stories we bring to our lives and when it may be time to change the narrative. I also use ETT (emotional transformation therapy with light and color) to identify and shift behavior patterns.

I work with couples facing high conflict, betrayal, emotional distance, or uncertainty about whether to stay together.
Your marriage may feel like it is hanging by a thread. You keep having the same painful fight, one of you shuts down while the other pushes harder, or an affair has shattered what you thought you knew. Maybe one partner wants to save the marriage while the other is unsure. You need more than generic communication tips. You need a therapist who can slow the crisis down, identify the cycle beneath it, and help you decide what comes next, whether that means rebuilding trust, changing the relationship, or gaining clarity about the future.

Maybe trust has been eroded by infidelity or you’ve experienced some kind of marital trauma.
You’re trapped in a unhappy marriage. You thought you were marrying the person of your dreams. Feelings of love, excitement and hope for a wonderful life together have been replaced with pain, anger, and loneliness. Your efforts to make it better have led to more conflict and you feel misunderstood and more alienated than ever.

I work with men trapped in cycles of pornography or sexual addiction — carrying shame, hiding it from their spouse, and wondering if change is possible. As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) with EMDR training, I help men and couples move from secrecy and hopelessness toward honesty, healing, and restored trust. I bring clinical expertise and a Christian perspective to this work, because lasting change involves not just behavior, but the heart behind it. You don’t have to keep fighting this alone. I also work with trauma, depression, and substance use, and see individuals and couples both in-person and online in Fort Worth.

You keep trying, but nothing changes. You have this underlying anger and a short fuse. You put on a happy face, portray a perfect life, yet others have no idea that you really feel unworthy and inferior. The ways you are coping with these feelings still leave you empty and are now creating more problems. You are on the verge of losing control of everything. No one knows the hurt and trauma of your past. You were taught to "buck up" and deal with it. If you did talk about it, you would be rejected and left feeling shame again. You feel like there is no hope and this is your last chance.

I imagine you’ll never forget the day you discovered your partner’s infidelity.
In therapy, you’ll learn ways to ease the anxiety weighing on your thoughts and emotions. You can break free from your past “stuff” (and most of us have “stuff”) using EMDR an effective, evidence-based approach. Instead of simply talking about painful experiences, EMDR helps your brain reprocess what you’ve been carrying so it no longer feels overwhelming.

Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you wonder if life should be better somehow? Psychological illness can be an invisible disease that others can't seem to understand or connect with, leaving us feeling alone, misunderstood, and lacking control over our lives. It is in these moments that a helping professional is most needed in order to develop new coping strategies, perspectives, and an understanding about how our personal wounds and experiences impair our ability to move forward. I believe that it shouldn't be so hard to live a better life.

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
