Life can be chaotic and overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be! I believe you already possess everything you need to handle life's ups and downs, you're just missing a safe space to discover those abilities. I would be honored to provide that safe space. I'm endlessly curious about my clients and passionate about helping them discover or rediscover hope and joy in their lives. Therapy is only as successful as the relationship between client and counselor, if I'm not the right fit, I'll find you someone that is!

I specialize in life transitions, grief and loss, and anxiety.
Life brings you many challenges. You may be dealing with a roadblock and the future you were planning is no longer possible. Maybe you’ve just experienced a loss, are worrying constantly, or feel like a burden. If you’ve been feeling some of these negative emotions but trying to avoid them, you’re not alone. We all struggle at different times and it can be scary to even start the search for help. Many people feel ashamed or weak for seeking therapy, but I’m here to tell you that you are stronger for it. It takes a lot more courage to start therapy than to continue living in pain.

My specialties include pre-marital and marital counseling, life stages and transitions, grief and loss, stress and anxiety, young adults, and existential crises and questions.
Accepting new clients. Evening and weekend hours. Supervised by Dr. Misti Sparks, LMFT-S. I love working with couples - communication & conflict, infidelity & betrayal, family growth & marital change. I have a lot of experience with adolescents and young adults; and I've walked with many people through crises, loss, and life changes. I am a believer that unresolved stuff from our past - family of origin issues, abuse and trauma, grief, etc. - shows up in and affects our present. I hope therapy helps people come to terms with the past, and address concerns of the present, so they can have a healthier and happier future.

As a survivor of childhood trauma, PTSD, and complicated grief, I understand how difficult it is to reach out for help, especially when you feel like you have tried everything.
Do you sometimes feel as though you are trapped in your own head? Do you feel disconnected from the present moment, unable to experience profound connection, relaxation, and joy because you are dwelling on the past or worried about the future? Have you “worked through” difficult past experiences in traditional therapy, but still feel as though your problems continue to linger? If you found yourself nodding while reading any or all of these questions, you may have unresolved trauma affecting your nervous system. Using specialized techniques that target the nervous system, I can help you release that trauma once and for all.

Abandonment / Abortion recovery / Anger management / Domestic violence intervention / Divorce care / Self care / Foster / Adoption adjustment challenges / Financial problems / Grief & loss / Interpersonal relationships / Marriage & family / Parenting issues / Premarital counseling / Pornography use / Prison / parole rehabilitation.
My typical counseling approach, and that of my colleagues at Homestead Hope Counseling Services, is anchored firmly and unapologetically in the Christian world-view. We do so with a clear, unwavering theistic paradigm that acknowledges God's sovereignty in all things, as He is intimately interested in, and responsive to, each person and all they experience. Therefore, unless otherwise directed by the client, our approach will inherently involve the use of biblical revelation and the principles found therein, when ever appropriate and applicable. The Christ centered world view is paramount to my approach to healing.

I offer a space for people to address such issues as depression, anxiety, grief, relational conflict, personal growth and childhood abuse/sexual trauma.
Are you seeking a culturally sensitive therapist who will not make stereotypical assumptions, but will honor your story and journey? Have you been told that therapy is for the weak or for those whose faith is not strong enough? Are you looking for a place where you can feel safe enough to say everything you need to without feeling shame?Having strong emotions is not what hurts us, its not having a place to express them.

Life has a way of bringing us to our knees at times. It can feel completely overwhelming to navigate the emotions and experiences that come with being human. The good news is, you don't have to do it alone. I’d love to help you learn to process emotion in a way that fosters acceptance and healing. I specialize in working with adult individuals struggling with grief, anxiety, trauma, body image, life transitions (ie: college, parenthood, divorce, spiritual deconstruction), and caregivers of children with special needs. I work with clients from religious and non-religious contexts.

My years of experience prepared me to deal with issues related to marriage, family conflict, grief, divorce, self-esteem, substance abuse, trauma and much more.
The past few years have been unprecedented. People who have never sought mental health services before are finding themselves in need of emotional support and therapeutic intervention. People are dealing with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts as well as a multitude of life stressors. I have worked in mental health services for the past seven years and saw firsthand how the pressures of today are causing individuals and families to find themselves at odds with their own world view. Some want answers on how to get to a new form of normalcy. It is clear that the world has changed and what worked before, may not work now.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
