I primarily utilize Gestalt therapy, a humanistic method, but each person is unique and therefore will integrate a range of counseling modalities.
Therapy is about having a safe, unbiased place for you to process and express your emotions. As your therapist, I will listen, reflect, and challenge you on your healing journey. Whether your goal is to work through trauma, manage complicated relationships, or to have a place to verbalize your feelings, I am here to provide a welcoming environment. You are the expert of your life and I will walk alongside you as you develop insight, tools, and confidence to be your best self.

I am primarily trained in Gestalt , IPNB, and mindfulness techniques, however, I will tailor the approach to match YOUR needs.
Life has a way of bringing us to our knees at times. It can seem impossible to navigate the emotions and losses that come with being human. We often increase suffering by judging emotion negatively or attempting to avoid it altogether. It doesn’t have to be so. I’d love to help you learn to process emotion in a way that fosters acceptance and healing. I specialize in working with adult individuals struggling with grief, anxiety, OCD, body image, life transitions (ie: college, parenthood, divorce, spiritual deconstruction), and caregivers of children with special needs. I work with clients from religious and non-religious contexts.

I customize each individual's therapy using approaches based on sound theories such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt , and motivational enhancement with a foundation in Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Sometimes considering a change can be overwhelming. I can walk beside you, teaching ways to overcome feelings of anxiety and confusion while working on your relationship with yourself and others. Decreasing anxiety, depression, overcoming habits, and learning to manage diagnoses such as borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and difficult medical diagnoses: HIV, cancer, and more. I treat people with dignity and respect in a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. I also believe a sense of humor is essential to emotional health, happiness. As we work on challenges, we may also share a laugh or two along the way.

I utilize solution focused and Gestalt models when addressing issues, in order to stay mindful and in the present.
Substance abuse and chemical dependency affect more people than you may think. Addiction touches the lives of everyone around the addict, not just the individual. Family members and loved ones of addicts may need therapy just as much as the addict. I enjoy working with those seeking true relief from their addictions, codependency and helping the family understand their part. Loved ones didn't cause someone's addiction, can't control it, and can't cure it, but therapy can help us better understand and cope with the effects of substance abuse.

We utilize REBT and Gestalt theories to name a few to address particular objectives.
The ideal client is one that realizes that they want something different in life regarding their current situation and are honest with themselves, open to new approaches and willing to exercise mentally in therapy. Issues that are rooted internally and a need to be able to manage them. Our goal is to be able to promote objectivity in the mind by examining theories and tactics that could be beneficial to ones development.

Prioritizing yourself, and your wellness can be difficult, especially in our turbulent world. I would be honored to help you create a safe space where you can completely be yourself, and accepted for who that is. I am always amazed at the resilience and potential each of my clients have, and I would love to help you tap into that. I believe that an authentic relationship between the counselor and client is really important for change. I know I am not always the right fit for all clients, so if I'm not your cup of tea, I will help you find the counselor that is!

I am very interested in all that has been gained in the area of brain research in the last decade and the new ways we have of approaching those troublesome unconscious patterns that drive us. The brain is not hardwired as was once believed. Each person has huge untapped potential in reservoirs of which they are simply unaware. A situation that seems impossible can be infused with new creativity and that produces a very different type of response. Even telling the story is healing - a relief in itself.
