I utilize a mixture of therapy modalities, including, but not limited to, CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
Feeling stuck can be incredibly isolating. Whether it’s grief, life changes, addiction, painful experiences from the past, or constant worry about the future, many people find themselves caught in patterns they don’t know how to move out of. Often, we were never really taught how to grieve, cope with hardship, forgive, or show ourselves compassion, which can leave people feeling ashamed for struggling or unsure how to move forward.

One of my specialties is in EMDR therapy, a treatment that is designed for trauma, no matter how innocuous it may seem.
I enjoy working with folks who've tried therapy before, and didn't get what they needed. I love trying out more creative approaches to therapy, and I make sure we're collaborating to find that path you've been searching for. Some of my most rewarding clients are those struggling with self-worth, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Since most folks have struggled with a least a few of these issues, I find myself well equipped to work with just about anyone. Whether you're already motivated and aware of what changes you want to make, or just getting started on your mental health journey, I'll be happy to lend a hand how I can.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) is a trauma therapy that I use.
Does your life feel like a tangled ball of yarn—knotted, frayed, and seemingly impossible to unravel? I understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate through the complexities of your past, feel confident in the present, and find hope for the future. Each time you feel like you are making progress, you run into a knot that you can’t seem to untie. Together, we'll gently unravel the knots of your past—abuse, trauma, toxic relationships, broken trust, depression, anxiety—seeking to understand your pain so you can move forward with confidence and hope.

With a background in supporting the first responder community and training in EMDR, I am dedicated to fostering healing and growth.
Empowerment. That’s my specialty. How’s your strength and confidence when it comes to managing your own life? It takes immense courage to begin therapy, and I want to normalize that journey. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let’s challenge those negative self-beliefs and become empowered.

The EMDR Certification qualifies me to guide you, step-by-step, through a safe and proven process.
We begin by building a strong foundation in understanding your protective system, honoring the parts of you that have worked hard to keep you safe. Once self-regulation skills are in place, we move into reprocessing traumatic experiences from a grounded sense of safety. This process deepens insight into what happened, highlights your resilience, and, through self-compassion, allows you to release what no longer serves you and reconnect with your purpose, relationships, and authentic self.

My approach is an emphasis on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
I am a big fan of identifying and reframing cognitive distortions. I also enjoy working on cognitive diffusions and approaching things from a solution focused perspective. Not everything is a problem waiting to be solved though, and it can also be helpful to just talk through our stressors and triggers, which can help with processing our emotions.

I am EMDR certified, and I have my Supervisor credential as well as my Perinatal Mental Health- Counselor credential.
You may look like you’re managing life well — but internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted. Many of the women and mothers I work with are high-functioning, driven, and deeply caring, yet feel stuck in cycles of self-criticism, overthinking, or always needing to “hold it together.” I specialize in working with anxious, high-achieving women and mothers who are navigating life transitions, motherhood, relationship stress, or identity shifts. This includes women in the perinatal and postpartum season, those adjusting to new roles or expectations, and women who feel the pressure to do everything right.

I am trained in and regularly use EMDR with clients for a variety of issues.
LGBTQ+ people experience many different situations and circumstances that are unique to the LGBT community. Your gender and orientation doesn't define you, but it does play a large role in your life and impacts many different other issues that you may face. You deserve a counselor who not only understands this, but also knows how to incorporate a person's whole self into counseling and addresses the specific challenges unique to the LGBTQ+ Community.

Reaching out takes great courage, especially when someone is seeking guidance. Life has the tendency to cause people to cope in ways that are not necessarily beneficial. They may develop problems like depression or anxiety as a result of stressors. Or, they may turn towards abusing substances as a way to change how they feel. Reaching out for help during this time may be scary and seem impossible. My goal, as a therapist, is to come alongside my clients so that they don’t walk alone through whatever may be troubling them. I hope to be able to help anyone struggling to deal with life on life’s terms.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
