The most common theoretical approaches I use are CBT, Interpersonal psychology, Trauma Focused CBT, Reality Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness, and positive psychology.
I work hard to create an open, nonjudgment environment where you will feel accepted and respected. I am nonjudgmental and begin therapy where you are to meet your needs. I hope that working with me is comfortable and supportive of feeling safe and respected.

I enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals, particularly college students and those in helping professions. My therapeutic style is open and flexible, allowing the process to unfold naturally based on each person's unique needs. I take a client-centered, client-directed approach, tailoring each session to the individual and their goals. I incorporate humor to foster a relaxed, welcoming space, while maintaining a direct and nonjudgmental presence that supports honest, meaningful dialogue.

You feel like you've tried everything, but you're still not seeing the results you want in your life and relationships. You might think of yourself as a truth speaker, black sheep, or cycle breaker. Maybe you've faced a lot of rejection, loneliness, and trauma because of your commitment to shining your light. Don't give up; the world needs exactly what you have. I'm committed to coming alongside you in your journey of healing and growth so you don't feel the need to dim your light any longer.

At times, the existential trek is painfully taxing, even intolerable, yet also fertile terrain for unearthing our boundless capacity. Here, therapy serves as an avenue to a more agentic, authentic, self-honoring narrative. Unflinchingly committed to and invested in my clients' growth, I strive to foster an affirming, trusting relationship in which we gently excavate your sources of unrest and facilitate deeper awareness, integration, and action. I relish working with anyone who finds their needs and desires at odds with cultural scripts or societal expectations and may struggle for harmony inside an inherently paradoxical existence.

In therapy, I utilize Brainspotting (BSP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and Mindfulness techniques.
Are you having trouble regulating your emotions, unable to set your own or respect other people’s boundaries? Do you find yourself having trouble setting boundaries, often saying yes when really, you want to say no? Do you expect things to always go your way, and fall apart when it doesn’t? Do you find yourself in relationships with the same person but with a different name? It’s a pattern. Your childhood may be the cause of today’s behavior patterns, and contribute to feeling helpless, frustrated, and trapped.

I also use a mindfulness-based approach to help develop a skill set that will allow you to be in a better position to work through stressful times.
Do you feel you have a lot weighing on your mind but don’t know where to let it out? Do you often find yourself hesitant to talk through how you’re feeling? It takes courage to recognize the need to reach out to someone and even more so to act on it. I can provide a safe and non-judgmental space you need to be heard and allow you to put those thoughts into your own words.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
