I am focused on helping people find the long lasting change in their lives they have been striving for. Many of us have had the experience of deciding what we need to do differently and struggle actually implementing that plan. I have confidence in people having the capabilities to come up with their own solutions provided the right support and environment. Trauma and impactful experiences can be barriers getting in the way of accessing or utilizing these solutions. Let's focus on creating the neurological changes you need to help you find the true long lasting healing you desire rather than short term solutions that fizzle out.

I really love to work with people who find themselves at a place where something has to give....where staying the same is no longer an attractive option. It may feel like your relationship is stuck in a bad place, or that your family is spun out of control, or that you simply are not the best version of yourself. I work best with those who are ready to take a long honest look at the things that are hard to see..... those who are willing to be brave and learn how to create something different in their lives.

Are you seeking an experienced virtual counselor? I've been offering phone and virtual sessions for over 15 years and have a knack for making you feel we are sitting across from one another. We can and will accomplish as much, if not more, working virtually. I am an active and directive therapist who will engage powerfully with you to help you make the changes you seek. My background is in family dysfunction and addiction studies with an emphasis on those who have been affected by others' addictions or obsessive behaviors. Codependent, narcissistic, and toxic relationships are painful, and you deserve healing now.

I work with young people who are struggling with daily issues, such as anger, anxiety, or sadness as well as those experiencing life changes like death of a family member or parental divorce.
I use a developmental and person-centered approach that allows me to meet every client exactly where they are. For younger children, this is often done with play therapy. As kids get older, I incorporate more art and games, allowing my clients to get comfortable and not feel the pressure often associated with discussing personal details with a stranger!

I've had formal training in many types of therapy including marriage and family therapy, group therapy, pain management, anger management, sexual issues, clinical hypnosis, psychological assessment, and many others.
I work with children of all ages, and with all parent-child problems. Recent customer comments: "Thank you for your thoroughness in helping me." "You have a very calming manner." "This is the best place I've been to. I really mean it." "I trust your professionalism beyond anyone I've met so far." "You told me to go to AA and I finally went. It's really nice to wake up and not hate myself." "I definitely feel better when I leave here." "I like it that you don't just tell people what they want to hear. You give them real life advice."

My clients have overcome a variety of issues from trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, seperation, divorce, parenting issues and more.
As we navigate through the roller coaster of life and the complexities that relationships can bring, we will not walk away unaffected. I strongly believe that “silence kills,” and facing our issues by talking about them, is the only way to resolve them. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, my goal is to encourage and support individuals, couples, adolescents and families to increase personal awareness, strengths, and connection with others. Together, we will unravel the knots in your soul and the splinters in your mind.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
