Sometimes we can get thrown into changes we weren't ready for. Maybe the change is welcomed. Regardless of whether these changes are expected or unexpected, I am confident that together, we can embrace these changes in the midst of joy or grief & become our own resources as we learn new ways to approach the issue or the situation. This is the heart of my therapeutic approach. I believe individuals, couples, & families have the ability to change. I am ready to walk with you on your journey & look forward to discovering ways which strengthen your approach to life's changes.

I develop safe relationships with my clients in which we can work together to explore life issues through a variety of client-preferred modalities including talk, play, arts, creativity, &
spirituality
.
I believe that each of us has within us everything we need to reach our full potential. Often in life, people receive messages that some part of themselves is not acceptable, which causes them to believe that they must change themselves to meet others' expectations. Through a genuine counseling relationship in which people feel understood and accepted for who they truly are, I believe that people have the capacity to heal from within and live meaningful and fulfilling lives in which they are free to be fully themselves, trust themselves, and meaningfully connect with others.

As of June 5th 2023, I have a few openings! Please read this all the way thru, you won't regret it!..... Have you ever sworn to yourself and others that you were never drinking/drugging again?.....And truly meant it?....only to go back on your word soon or eventually? ..........What changed?......You will come to see how it was your MIND that changed. If we don't address how the Mind Drives Relapse, it will continue. It all starts in your BRAIN & experienced as your Mind. I will provide you the tools needed as well as counseling each step of the way. I use an integrated approach blending neuroscience,
spirituality
and psychology.

Everyone, wherever they are on their journey, wants “better” – better relationships, better feelings about self, satisfaction in life – and we try so many things but often come to places where we feel stuck or see ourselves repeating similar patterns. You may be adept at moving on after walking through difficult circumstances, yet this time your “bounce back” doesn’t seem as strong. Making change in one's self can appear difficult, especially if we cannot see for ourselves what needs to be changed. Change can be exhilarating, liberating and an adventure, not an arduous task of “what’s wrong with me?”

Are you happy with who you are, or what you do? What about your relationships? Your partner? Your family? Are you happy with your career? Your life? Your accomplishments? Are you happy, period? If you are struggling with any of these, in any way, I'd like to help. The struggle can be a universal one, but sometimes the right kind of help can be hard to find. The kind that makes a real, lasting difference.

Hi, I'm Nici, and I'm glad you are here. I started Crown of Hope Counseling after six years of experience as a chaplain at a trauma level one hospital, feeling utter heartbreak at never knowing how the grieving individuals I served were coping after the immediate grief season. Grief extends far beyond the few days after loss, and I am passionate about walking with you on the journey to healing and hope. I believe in wholeheartedly continuing the legacy of the ones who have passed. Their death is not a period, but a comma— A story that continues to unfold with an abundance of love.

My passion is to come alongside those who are hurting, mending, or broken and help empower them to find meaning and hope in their circumstances. Once we navigate this, I believe every one of us has the ability to live lives of purpose and freedom.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
