That is why my therapeutic style remains flexible and collaborative, focusing on your individual strengths, needs, and motivation. Whether you are dealing with difficult emotions, unwanted behaviors, relationship struggles, life transitions, or simply a desire to improve yourself; the work of talk therapy can help you to identify the patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be keeping you from your goals and desires.

Appointments Available! We all have a story that makes us unique and tells of the challenges, achievements, and lessons learned through our life journey. My story begins with the discovery that I have the ability to understand people who feel misunderstood. I would like the opportunity to hear where your journey has taken you and guide you towards a direction of greater happiness and meaning. Every person enters my door with uncertainty and walks away with clarity and awareness. Although we haven't even met, I am confident that with my help and with the hope you have that your story can lead to a new and more positive you.

I work with my clients to build confidence and autonomy in my sessions to speak freely. No struggle is too big or too small. We work on creating larger goals at first, while also looking into smaller steps to reach those larger goals. My top priority is client comfort and ensuring a safe space for each person in the therapeutic environment. Just be yourself and come to the session, you've already done an amazing job.

Most of us can easily think of the obvious benefits to counseling but a mental/emotional investment is required to reap those benefits. Unfortunately there is no magic wand or magic pill and as a therapist I cannot "fix" anyone. But...I can teach you how to use your thoughts for your success rather than your destruction. I can show you how your thoughts can be used as the steering wheel of your emotions and behavior. I can help you acquire and employ cognitive and behavioral strategies that will facilitate better communication and improve the relationship with yourself and others.

I am passionate about helping women. Society has high expectations of us as women and we face these pressures daily. Let’s also get real for a minute... We pressure ourselves with being perfect and then torment inside when it's not possible. We drain ourself out and forget that we also need to take care of ourselves and sometimes that means our trauma too. Whether it is low self-esteem with a loud internal critic, not knowing how to identify your needs, or a traumatic experience in your way, I will help you figure out what you need moving forward to enjoy life. YOU are worth it!

I believe we all have a unique puzzle. This puzzle of life experiences, family of origin, our personality, and genetics come together to form who we are. Sometimes we need guidance and support to see and understand that puzzle. I can offer insights, tools, and skills to help my clients adapt those pieces to give them every opportunity to meet and maintain their goals. It is my greatest privilege and passion to partner with my clients in a safe, ethical, therapeutic relationship as they discover their own unique power and strength.

For individuals, I draw from feeling-oriented, psychodynamic , and cognitive approaches.

I enjoy helping couples find ways to communicate with each other more effectively to feel close again. Are you stressed or overwhelmed with life during these tough times? Fortunately, you don't have to go it alone. I am happy to provide a safe space for you to express your thoughts and feelings and to help you find clarity with any issues you may have. I am accepting new clients for Teletherapy. In-person sessions in North Austin involve fewer time slots and available only at times.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
