My work seems to be primarily with grad students, young professionals, and humans going through life changes. I enjoy the creative process of growth growing out of discomfort.

As a therapist, my passion is for supporting you as you engage your own strengths in the process of change and transformation. I work with a variety of issues, including life purpose, transitions, depression, anxiety, relationships, parenting, midlife unravelings, trauma, stress management, grief and loss, high sensitivity and spirituality, among others. I work with individuals and couples, offering a mindfulness-based approach to therapy.

When we experience difficulties in our lives, it is easy to feel powerless to our problems. You might feel as though anxiety or depression dominate your life, interrupting your hopes for the future or getting in the way of fulfilling connections with others. Perhaps it seems like you and your partner just can’t overcome conflict or feelings of disconnection, no matter how hard you try. Or maybe your teen child is struggling with the challenges of adolescence and identity development, and they feel hopeless that they will ever experience a true sense of belonging. Whatever your story is, your problems do not have to define you.

I offer somatic psychotherapy (touch and tablework) for people who are working on trauma, relationship and attachment issues. This work may also bring up family of origin issues that may also be unresolved. I combine somatic, IFS, and attachment modalities. My somatic training also provides expertise in helping those with chronic illness or pain and how this is related to mental health. Somatic work also is for those with after-effects of surgeries or accidents.

I counsel individuals for issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and family conflicts. I have extensive professional experience related to various forms of domestic violence, including verbal, emotional and psychological abuse. Clients dealing with life transitions, relationship difficulties, and parenting struggles also benefit from therapy. We will work together to help you recognize your strengths and emerge with renewed positivity and hope.

In my two decades as therapist, I have been honored to witness people move through incredible challenges and sometimes transform the trajectory of their lives, Just as our bodies send healing to our physical wounds, we hold inside us all we need to be move through tremendous struggles to emerge whole. Our innate capacity to heal is in all of us. It is outside of our awareness because our minds are full of noise. I help my clients become inner explorers. I help them develop a lens of self-compassion, freedom from judgment and gentle curiosity about themselves. When we are at peace within ourselves, everything is possible.

I believe in a holistic approach, viewing therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment, so that clients can achieve their desired changes and develop more meaningful relationships. I have extensive training in working with couples, assisting them to repair or restore their relationship. I also work with couples who have decided to divorce, and who wish to heal from the loss of their relationship. I have been trained as a Level II EMDR therapist since 1995 and I have worked with survivors of trauma for over 20 years. I do not accept any insurance.

I provide therapy in a supportive, authentic and normalizing environment. I work to help others feel empowered as they work toward their goals and recognize how much they are able to shape their own lives when provided with effective tools and insight. I believe that the appropriate use of humor is extremely helpful and I strongly believe that it is not my place to judge you or to impose my values on you during the therapeutic process. I view counseling as a team effort where the counselor and client work together.

I am highly experienced assisting children, teenagers, young adults, and families with a variety of behavioral, developmental, and social - emotional challenges. As a former school counselor, I can provide beneficial information regarding accommodations/modifications that are needed in the school setting. In a private counseling setting, I can help with behavioral and emotional challenges, including: anger, bullying, impulse control, depression, anxiety, peer relationships, and self-regulation techniques. I assists teens steer through difficult challenges and offer support for the young adult while they face many challenges as they navigate life and their many changing roles after high school.
