One of my favorite quotes from Steven Covey: "Self-awareness gives us ultimate human freedom." This is the foundation of my therapy style. To have a strong sense-of-self and healthy relationships with others we must really know ourselves; our strengths, our defenses, and the stories we create. We will explore how life has shaped you and find patterns that keep you stuck. I do not shy away from any life experiences. I am open-minded and am comfortable discussing what you need explore.

My goal is to work with you in a partnership to create solutions that are specific to your unique needs. I'm a believer that the opposite of depression is not happiness, but resiliency. We can work together to explore your depression, anxiety, or shame which are often the result from a trauma, or series of traumas. I have found that the most effective therapy has an individualized focus and is a collaboration between you and me. The focus will be to help you explore possible alternative ways of thinking and behaving - the building blocks of change.

Many of the adults I work with feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns shaped by stress, trauma, or difficult relationships. You may be functioning well on the outside while struggling internally with anxiety, depression, or a sense that something isn’t quite right. My clients are often looking for deeper change, not just coping. I offer trauma-informed therapy integrating somatic awareness, attachment work, and experiential approaches. Sessions are available via tele-health, in-office, or through equine-assisted psychotherapy for those drawn to working with horses.

Along the road, we all developed temporary tools to solve the problems in our lives. Unfortunately, we often forgot to stop using those tools, and they became "permanent." In the end, using the wrong tool to solve a problem does not make one's life better, only worse. In therapy, I work with adolescents and adults to re-tool and get more of what they want out of life. Let's get started!

Life can be difficult and is filled with challenges and traumatic experiences that require our attention and care in order to heal. We are skilled at silencing the aching inside via escape hatches: excessive shopping, over/under eating, using drugs or alcohol, sex, gambling, gaming, etc. Yet, a therapeutic relationship can offer support as we move into freedom by learning to live in the present moment with all life has to offer.

You care so much about your child. You may be at your wits end or nervous about what is going on with them and changes you see. You would do anything to see them happier and thriving in all areas of life. I've helped many families with behavioral, social, and emotional concerns. I help build coping, self esteem, and resilience skills. I believe in involving the parents and helping them learn new strategies because this will bring more lasting results for the child/teen. I finished my BA/MA degrees in Counseling. I have worked helping children and families for 20 yrs. I am a Registered Play Therapist and am child-centered (CCPT).

My approach is providing "physical therapy for the mind." We periodically experience emotional injuries that make it difficult to move forward - taking forms such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Further, some find talk therapy difficult, but still need support for mental health challenges. This is why I provide cutting edge treatment with IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. It allows you to passively enjoy the benefits of having a regulated brain and body without jumping into intense talk therapy first. This fits any life stage or personality.

Are you feeling frustrated, exhausted, and dissociated from your partner, your kids, or your life as a whole? This may be stemming from betrayal, disconnection, infertility, or loss of identity, creating a seemingly unbreakable cycle of miscommunication and hurt. When you constantly feel misunderstood or unseen, it can be difficult to keep negative thoughts at bay. Often it feels easier to avoid and emotionally disengage rather than sit in the discomfort. You may be unsure why you feel this way, how to stop unhelpful behaviors, or how to meet your needs along with everyone else’s – and nothing you try seems to be working.

You’re the one people depend on but lately, it’s starting to feel like too much. You handle your responsibilities, show up for others, and keep things moving but inside, your mind won’t slow down. The overthinking, stress, and pressure are constant. You might be feeling burned out, mentally exhausted, or wondering how long you can keep functioning at this level. At some point, pushing through stops working. That’s where I come in. I specialize in working with high-functioning adults who are dealing with anxiety, stress, and burnout.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
