I am also trained in Child- Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT).
I offer counseling in a natural, outdoor environment, which provides a peaceful and comfortable setting for sessions. Partnering with animals in therapy provides a powerful and relational alternative to traditional counseling. I am committed to walking alongside you through the process of healing. I believe in the healing power of safe and healthy relationships, which includes relationships with our animals at the barn.

Becoming a parent can oftentimes bring up past hurts and wounds. As you start to parent your own children you realize the ways you were taught may not be what you want to teach your own children. I believe each person is the expert on their own life and that the relationship between client and therapist is a collaborative one. Old patterns of behaving and thinking don't have to be the continued pattern. The stressors of parenting can feel overwhelming when you are also struggling with depression and/or anxiety.

You keep thinking that this is just a stage or a passing behavior your child is going through. You stay up late searching online for books, articles, or blog posts looking for something new to try because nothing you do is working to help your child. The meltdowns, temper tantrums, yelling and the power struggles in your home are not how you pictured family life. It's too much noise, too much stress and the chaos is draining your energy. This is not the adventure you signed up for or learned about in Parenting 101. It's time for change.

My primary role as your therapist is to help you determine what sort of life you want to live and help you to create it. I don't use a 'one size fits all' approach but a mixed Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral approach rooted in Family Systems Theory. I also work with the family courts as a treating expert, a very different role than that of a traditional psychotherapist. As a forensically-informed Collaborative Divorce Mental Health Professional, Parenting Facilitator/Coordinator, Reunification Therapist, and New Ways for Families Parent Educator, I will use my knowledge to help you satisfy requirements in a legal setting.

I have 40+ years experience with a wide variety of children's and adult's life issues including crime and abuse survivors, parenting problems, divorce adjustment and children's emotional and behavioral problems.
Is your child angry, sad, anxious, shy, or test your limits? Have you experienced the loss of a loved one or a disappointing relationship? Do you have self-confidence or self-esteem difficulties? Do you find adjustment to retirement difficult? These are all challenges that can be improved or overcome with insights, new skills and practice. It is important to committ to sufficient time in overcoming these challenges.

Keith’s primary area of focus is Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). However, he also has experience working with teens and adults, and has received training to work with groups and families. Keith finds Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) to be a particularly fulfilling way of working within the family system. During the pandemic Keith gained training and experience working through multiple Tele-health platforms. He also has experience using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), but he primarily views counseling through a holistic Person-Centered perspective.

I work with children, adults and families. Individual experiences as well as experiences in a family system are unique. There are times in our lives that difficulties arise and unexpected life changes can leave us with feelings of hurt, stress, grief, anxiety, depression, and more. Counseling is a powerful tool that can help us understand, cope, and move forward in ways that are productive, purposeful and meaningful. Seeking counsel is a brave and powerful choice. It often brings great comfort knowing that you are absolutely welcomed into the process of counseling and that you do not have to walk through your experiences alone.

"I knew it would be hard, but why does everyone else seem to be handling it better than me?" "I'm doing it right, but I don't feel like enough." I get it! This period in life is different and difficult. Life transitions, like going off to college, living on your own, parenting , marriage, adulting, and divorce are all fraught with self-doubt and judgments.

I work with clients who have experienced broken relationships of all kinds, including: domestic violence, sexual abuse, parent /child relationships, mood disorders, love addiction, co-dependency, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, and life transitions.
In this world there is indeed trouble, darkness, violence, and loss. Looking for the light and meaning in it all can seem hopeless. When you feel that you have lost your way or true self altogether trying to fight it alone, I am here to help you seek the truth and be transformed by the renewal of your mind. It is my desire to help clients identify the messages they believe, often subconsciously, beneath the rhythms of daily life. These messages are often memory-informed and can interrupt our relationships, thought process, bodies, daily functioning, and self perception.

Parenting Therapists
In a rapidly changing world, parenting can be subject to fads and changing styles, and parenting in some privileged circles has become a competitive sport. But the needs of child development as delineated by science remain relatively stable: safety, structure, support, and love.
