Even without the stigma around mental health/therapy, reaching out can still feel like a big, vulnerable step, especially if you’re used to being the one who holds everything together for everyone else. It can be hard to shift from that role and admit you might need support, too. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained from trying to keep up with expectations, relationships, or all the different roles you carry—you’re not alone. A lot of the people I work with come in feeling the same way: stretched thin, quietly struggling with anxiety or relationships, or carrying a lingering sense of not quite belonging.

You’ve felt stressed, overworked, anxious, or sad before but this feels different. You can’t quite put your finger on it. You think today might be different, maybe you’ll feel like yourself again. It’s starting to become overwhelming. Maybe your work or relationships have yet to be impacted, or maybe they have. You begin to notice an overall negative outlook or feeling. Maybe you’re more irritable, feel more tired lately, have unusual physical sensations, or feel as though something terrible is going to happen. Many of my clients report feeling a sense of general unease without really understanding why.

Have you been feeling misunderstood, ashamed, scared, or honestly just completely exhausted with the difficulty of daily life? My passion lies in guiding clients through these lonely times, offering a warm and empathetic space where healing can begin. My existential counseling approach is rooted in the belief that every person is unique and deserves a tailored therapeutic experience. Instead of simply putting a bandage on your concerns, let’s find what is causing them and heal from the source. This counseling style stems from my favorite quote: "A fool pulls the leaves, a brute chops the trunk, but a sage pulls the roots".

The path of progress comes from collaboration in an atmosphere of cooperation, education, and insight. Whether our stress is around our internal needs, people close to us, or with the state of the world, the counseling relationship is about accessing and utilizing your innate ability to learn and grow from where you are into the better life you seek. Covid-19 has disrupted nearly all our connections with friends, family, work, and community. This has brought out the unfulfilled need for connection in relationships already stressful, and has inspired people to find creative ways of strengthening connection.

I believe one of the most important aspects of psychotherapy is to establish a safe, collaborative, and mutually respectful relationship where profound personal growth can occur. The atmosphere in my office is warm, accepting and open. My patients are insightful, creative, intelligent people who are working to attain specific goals, make difficult life transitions, or work through the internal and external struggles of previous experiences. My primary ares of interest are sexual trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, relational problems and grief. I also conduct formal psychological assessments when necessary.

You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or mentally exhausted despite knowing what you “should” be doing. Maybe your mind constantly overthinks, replays conversations, struggles to slow down, or feels pulled in too many directions at once. You may find yourself avoiding things that feel emotionally overwhelming, shutting down under stress, or wondering why things that seem manageable for others feel so difficult to sustain. Many of my clients come in feeling frustrated because they’ve tried therapy before but still feel like the deeper issue was never fully understood.

My approach to psychological healing is compassionate, challenging, holistic, and tailored to each and every client. I believe it takes a consistent and cognitive approach to changing difficult habits, and self-destructive behaviors. I work with adults, parents, couples, teens and children. Families are our dearest people and yet sometimes everyone needs to be reset. Dynamics can be changed and families strengthened by changing our communication patterns. Creating spaces for handling crisis is a keen focus of mine. Teens have also been a particular focus in my practice and I have a clear success rate in how these sensitive young people have evolved after therapy. .

Are you overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you? Women often carry the weight of expectations, relationships, and life transitions while quietly struggling to care for themselves. I use a relational & attachment-informed perspective, recognizing that experiences in relationships—past and present—shape how you see yourself, connect with others, and navigate the world. Therapy is a collaborative space to explore emotions, relationships, and identity with compassion and curiosity. Together, we build insight and develop tools that support healthier connections and a more grounded, authentic life.

I believe psychotherapy should be a transformational experience. We can get stuck in patterns of relating and being that, at one time, were adaptive and protective, but no longer help us to be our best selves. Psychotherapy helps us understand those patterns, develop strategies to disrupt them, and create new ways of being and relating that get us closer to our personal and professional goals.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
