My faith-based perspective is very open, embracing
spirituality
as a loving and life-giving experience.
Sometimes we need a safe place to tend to our heart, a place to be heard and understood, a place to get help. I am here to provide that place for you. Perhaps you have been feeling anxious or down. Maybe you feel stuck and are needing direction or liberation or resolution in one or more areas of life. With grace and affirmation, I will work closely with you to address what is hindering you and help you move forward. I work from a person-centered approach that is tailored to your needs.

spirituality
, premarital/marital, parenting, children/adolescence, coping skills, infertility issues, depression, and stress/anxiety, as well as discernment counseling.
Sometimes we can get thrown into changes we weren't ready for. Maybe the change is welcomed. Regardless of whether these changes are expected or unexpected, I am confident that together, we can embrace these changes in the midst of joy or grief & become our own resources as we learn new ways to approach the issue or the situation. This is the heart of my therapeutic approach. I believe individuals, couples, & families have the ability to change. I am ready to walk with you on your journey & look forward to discovering ways which strengthen your approach to life's changes.

Problems in love and work, as well as symptoms of depression and anxiety, often lead people to seek therapy. Psychotherapy allows for the safe exploration of painful problems and resolution of conflicts underlying them. As trust develops, individuals explore their inner feelings related to anger, intimacy, and
spirituality
. Before treatment, these feelings are frequently blocked and unavailable in useful ways. Psychotherapy helps individuals view themselves in new ways. Psychotherapy can be an emotional education resulting in lasting changes. Therapy frequently ends increased personal freedom to make wise choices for oneself in the context of one's community.

I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults ranging from issues of anxiety, depression, relationship issues,
spirituality
, and life transitions.
We can all struggle with forgetting our value, that our life and story have meaning and purpose. Whether it be your current life circumstances, broken relationships, or shame that has been weighing you down for far too long, you may have forgotten your own value. It is scary to feel hopeless, to question yourself, make sense of your story, and wonder "what's next for me?" It is daunting to release control over the unknown in whatever season you may be in. You don't have to face it all alone. I would love to journey with you.

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
