Since 2011, I’ve been working as a professional who specializes in helping people cope with their issues in faith-based institutions. I walk alongside with my clients in a way where mercy meets wisdom. No matter whether they are emotional issues or relational issues, I will dedicate myself to listening to your challenges and struggles. I have been through valleys of suffering and pits of darkness in my own life, and all my experiences had made who I am now. I will not hesitate to empower my client by envisioning myself to BE each of them, so that they will know they are not alone anymore, as they now have a fellow traveler in life.

Welcome! I am currently accepting new patients for therapy and testing. Testing can be a wonderful starting point for treatment, as it can help clarify diagnoses and pinpoint treatment goals for the purpose of psychotherapy. If you’re not quite sure where to start with treatment, testing may be a good option.

My advanced training, including a current psychoanalytic scholar track, informs all of my work, fostering the positive growth of one’s emotional capacities and relationships.
As a trauma therapist with comprehensive training from The Family Institute at Northwestern University and a background in mind-body science, I help clients who seek meaningful change, in both brief/intensive treatment and/or ongoing therapy. EMDR Intensives are for those ready to move beyond distressing experiences. These longer (but fewer) sessions allow for highly concentrated treatment. Participants report increased emotional tolerance and that this focused work has allowed them to experience progress and relief sooner and more efficiently.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Are your relationships distressing, maybe you feel betrayed? You put everyone in your life first and now you feel like you lost your self. Chances are if you are reading this you no longer want to endure your painful feelings alone. We can work together to understand what the problematic spots are. We will start where you are and, together, we will explore new ways of making your life more manageable. To struggle is to be part of the human experience. Struggle can be a motivator for change. Those self-defeating thoughts are not who you are. These life circumstances do not have to define your whole life.

The heart is protected for a reason. If the heart gets injured we can’t exist. The heart is encased inside so many layers of protection to keep it safe. Layers of organ, muscle, nerve, and fascia each working together and independently function to make sure the heart is protection from injury and harm. Brains are very creative, constantly sending messages in communication with the body to tell it what to do. Connected to our view of the outside world and our emotions that filter through the past and present to dictate the future, the brain takes on the huge responsibility of warning us of harm. This is crucial to the heart.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
