I have a passion for helping those who might be undergoing fertility treatments, have experienced pregnancy loss, or are navigating maternal mental health related symptoms.
No therapy is black and white. Many times healing comes from having a safe space to feel and process your emotions. My own lived experience with infertility and loss (along with specialized training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders) offers me a deep awareness of the impacts on not only those directly undergoing treatment but their loved ones as well.

I specialize in childhood trauma, perinatal mental health ( prenatal and postpartum), anxiety, identity development, and religious and spiritual trauma.
Overwhelmed. Exhausted. Numb. These may be some of the feelings you're experiencing right now. You want something to be different, but you don’t know where to start. You may feel so consumed with taking care of others that part of you has gotten lost and you don’t know how to get back to “you.” The days go by, but it’s hard to truly connect with and trust others. You may question whether you can even trust yourself. Life has turned into avoiding pain, and the more you push the difficult feelings down, the more overwhelmed and alone you feel. If you are reading this page, some part of you is longing for something to be different.

I also support individuals through pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Struggling to recognize who you are beneath the roles of parent, partner, and professional can leave you feeling like a shadow of yourself over time. These transitions can leave you exhausted, misunderstood, and unsure how to keep going. When your efforts don’t bring the relief you hoped for, it’s easy to lose hope. Therapy offers a supportive space to ease the pressure, process heavy emotions, and rediscover your strength. Taking that first step may feel daunting, but it can be the turning point toward healing and steadier ground.

Most people seek counseling when they experience pain, feeling stuck in their lives and relationships. The patterns that have worked for them in the past are no longer working or a new life event confronts them with the need for change. Life is sometimes messy and complex as we navigate through the challenges of being a parent, having a career, being a caretaker and keeping our marriages thriving. In working with my clients, my goal is to help facilitate curiosity, while taking a holistic approach in identifying beliefs, patterns and behaviors that may be blocking them from achieving their goals.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.
When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.
How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
