A person is a person, no matter how small.- Dr. Seuss Speaking your truth is difficult when your first language is play, or you find it difficult to share your thoughts because of anxiety or depression. Children struggle with a myriad of concerns in our technologically-driven age, whereby, their first impressions stem from influences seen on television, social media, and experiences from within their home or school environments. Moreover, adjusting to life-changing events is hard for children who need to feel supported on their journey through life.

OCD treatment is unique and focused on Exposure and Response Prevention, the gold standard intervention.
My ideal client is someone with a listening ear, with the courage to reimagine his/her life. Someone with dreams and a passion to realize them... Or maybe somebody broken and lost. Someone imperfect. Because that's real. That's being human. To quote a British philosopher: "I'm not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts, some superhero, some fairy tale bliss... I want something just like this..."

I work closely with people facing intrusive thoughts, postpartum OCD and anxiety, and I know how isolating and scary it can feel.
Does your mind get stuck on a thought and won’t let go, even when you know it doesn’t make sense? Do lay awake at night analyzing a conversation, worried you said something wrong or hurt someone without realizing it. Or, do you have sudden intrusive thoughts or images that feel disturbing, and then spend hours trying to push it away, make sense of it, or prove to yourself it doesn’t mean anything. If sounds like you- I see you. You are desperate to get the constant looping to stop. You want to move through your day at ease, without the interruption of fear driven thoughts. You want the ability to trust yourself and feel peace.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
