Attachment theory,
emotionally focused
therapy, and trauma-informed therapy are at the core from which I practice.
Is your child acting out? Is your teenager exhibiting symptoms of depression or anxiety? Are you a young adult struggling in relationship or with your life path? Are there feelings and behaviors separating you and your spouse? Each one of us has a vision of how our lives are “supposed” to go — the kind of person we’re supposed to be, the kind of relationships we’re supposed to be in, the path we’re supposed to be on. Yet, life often gives us a different story to tell... What if there was a space, a place to take a moment? A safe space where you can be heard with compassion and acceptance, toward making a plan for healing and growth.

I incorporate
Emotionally Focused
Therapy (
EFT
) into our work to explore emotions and emotional regulation to improve your life experience and relational connections.
Together, we will work to consider the influences that form your attachment style, behavioral patterns, and beliefs about yourself and your surroundings. It is common to continue those familiar patterns into adulthood, which can create challenging dynamics in life and in relationships.

Incorporating a blend of therapeutic approaches, including CBT,
EFT
, and narrative therapy, I empower clients to identify their treatment goals and move forward in their emotional journey to connection with themselves and others.
Have you been searching for a therapist who truly connects with your preteen or teen? You’ve tried different things, but the communication, relationships, and interactions in your family are just discouraging and frustrating. You’ve tried therapy before, and even considered more intensive treatment like inpatient or residential options for your child. You don’t know what else to do. You are not alone. It is possible for your child to launch making changes within themselves and in their relationships. Family harmony can be a reality.

I have training in energy psychology (EP), including Comprehensive EP, TFT,
EFT
, Healing Touch, and Foundations of Eden Energy Medicine.
I believe we're shaped by biological (heredity, diet, hormones), psychosocial (peers, family, job stress), and psychological influences (thoughts, self-esteem, perfectionism). Addressing the mind-body interaction is critical. I guide and teach, helping clients learn new skills such as meditation and meridian tapping to handle life stresses. Clients who best fit my style wish to let go of negative patterns of self-doubt, guilt, worry, and feeling "never good enough." My therapy focus is here-and-now, focusing on mind-body habits, to develop new behaviors, recondition brain connections, to go beyond mere understanding or insight.

Do you feel like you're going crazy? That you just cannot do anything right? Do you feel stuck but want to leave? Are you being: belittled, criticized, stalked, harassed, accused of cheating, or threatened? Or maybe, you are the one feeling insecure in the relationship and are doing these things. Relationships can be hard and confusing so I am here to help with guidance. This is individual counseling. I do not provide couples counseling due to the toxic nature of abuse. I want the person to feel safe coming to me and sometimes, people can hold back or feel unsafe due to a partner's actions.

I am a Gottman Method and
EFT
trained therapist.
My ideal client is human; inherently flawed and curious. This human is seeking collaboration, a non-judgmental space in which to grow, thrive, and learn through relational education between themselves and ultimately with others. The path chosen is ultimately one of healing, reconciliation, acceptance, growth, and forgiveness. The decision made to show up in therapy is a huge first step to move from surviving and stagnation to thriving and introspection. It is my honor whenever I have the opportunity to take this journey with you.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
