If someone in the street stopped you and asked, "where are you in life?" would you be able to answer them honestly? It's not as easy as it sounds. We aren't taught how to be an adult in school, and identity for every person is different, so there are bound to be hiccups or maybe even questions and concerns roaming your mind. Rest assured, that's what I'm here for. It's perfectly ok to be nervous. Some call me a mental health professional, but I like to call myself a healer because talking is healing. Please know I will continue to validate your experiences as they are true to you and encourage you to be true to yourself.

First things first... You are not "broken"; there is not something "wrong" with you. Oh yeah, and you're not "crazy." We all develop views of the world and coping behaviors based on our life experiences. It's what your brain does naturally to help you adapt and survive! I enjoy helping my clients become aware of these skills and utilize them effectively. Simultaneously, I enjoy aiding clients in the development of new skills and tools to assist in places where the old ones just aren't working anymore.

Seniors , caregivers, college students, and everyone in between are all right up my alley.
Retirees exploring life after a career, young adults trying to find their way, people struggling with feelings of depression and anxiety, and people searching for meaning: these are just some groups I enjoy working with. Nobody is immune to life's difficulties, and everybody faces trials such as stress and anxiety, among many others. The COVID pandemic has been a significant trial for everyone. You're not alone in your struggle to adjust. The fact that you're reading this means that you've already taken the first step to managing and improving your life.

Hi, I'm Quoqueze, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. And, I understand that life hits us all differently. Being challenged by acute or chronic difficult situations, can make you feel unsure of yourself and even overwhelmed at times. As a therapist, I enjoy helping my clients learn to confidently navigate these ebbs and flows of life so it's not so lonely and overwhelming. I help re-build their confidence in themselves. In doing so, they unlearn maladaptive behaviors, increase in self-awareness and self-love, learn helpful tools to improve problem-solving skills, build resilience, and tap into the peace and calm they've been missing.

Hi there! I'm Ashley. I'm a therapist in Texas offering individual counseling to adults and teens. I am passionate about providing trauma-informed, culturally competent mental health care to clients of all identities. I specialize in treating addiction, trauma, PTSD/complex PTSD, first responder trauma, and dissociative disorders. Often my clients feel stuck in their symptoms, which hold them back from enjoying comfort in their daily lives. These symptoms could include panic attacks, dissociative episodes, feeling disconnected from others, or waves of sadness, all of which can lead to unhealthy self-medication.

The twists and turns of life can take us down unexpected paths, at times in a very different direction than planned. Life-altering changes can occur at the drop of a hat or develop slowly, right under our noses, and then one day just appear and make us wonder, "What happened?" When things get difficult and frustration and hopelessness set in, it is human nature to strive to grasp for control, run away, or simply stick your head in the sand, anything to try to escape the pain. In every area of life, increasing one’s resilience and strength requires a struggle...but not alone. I am here to help and support you through the process.

I use an active interactional style to provide support, insight, and practical strategies for coping with life's challenges.

How can I find a therapist in Dallas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
