Therapy is about building a better
relationship
with yourself and with those around you.
There is no manual for the LGBTQ experience. People in our community often find themselves having spent their childhood trying to stay safe, only to reach adulthood without the skills and relationships to have the fulfilling life they deserve. We often feel like we are spending our lives playing catch up, trying to reclaim our past while living out our present and future all at the same time.

Most people that enter therapy are stuck...whether it's in
relationship
conflicts, depressive cycles or life ruts. What helps to get 'unstuck' is a different view and new interactions. I believe all people and situations can change if you want them too. I work well with motivated and dedicated people and help you to find new solutions to your daily problems and conflicts. I am a very interactive, directive, and coaching based therapist who believes that without the skills necessary, the problems interactions will remain the same.

I work with individuals,
couples
, and families, in person and virtually. I’m primarily a cognitive behavioral therapist — I help you explore your thoughts and core beliefs to gain clarity and find solutions. I also facilitate observation of narrative and finding meaning in your experiences and the complexity of life. People usually seek my services when they are at a crossroads, are dealing with
relationship
conflict, difficult family dynamics, emotional turmoil, or want to overcome past trauma. I currently see around 25 individuals per week in my work as a clinical counselor with a human rights organization since January 2022.

By attending to your
relationship
dynamics, family messages, and your identity and
relationship
goals, we will help you access your power and find a sense of safety and calmness.
Are you ready to be more vulnerable but aren’t sure where to start? Have you found yourself struggling to share honestly with those around you? Or maybe you’ve tried sharing more of yourself with others, but you aren’t sure where you belong or if others will accept you? Our families can have a big impact on how we show up in our adult relationships. Cultural messages often impact how safe we feel to be fully ourselves. Shame and guilt can hold us back from experiencing intimacy and connection with ourselves and others. Together we will help you heal from any past wounds so you can feel more aligned in the present.

Accepting clients as of June 2023. I work with
couples
on topics such as polyamory, sexuality, infidelity, codependency, and addiction. As a therapist, I value honesty above all else because if we're not honest about what is bothering us, we can't fix it- that means that we have to sometimes be truthful to ourselves or sometimes be truthful to our partners. I am extremely direct as a therapist, I use plenty of dark humor, and my clients often describe me as the most effective therapist they have worked with. Please feel free to email me for a consultation and check out my website for group therapy I offer for addiction/codependency!

Sometimes, you need someone who just “gets it”. Someone who can genuinely understand what you're going through and who won’t judge you for the things you might be scared to admit or say out loud. Finding a quality therapist, who you really connect with and who takes the time to really understand you, can make all the difference. I am very passionate about helping people and choose to take the time to thoroughly understand each individual, couple, or family’s unique situation. I'm a Licensed Psychologist and enjoy working with adults of all ages. I find that I am most helpful to clients who are interested in reflecting more deeply on what it means to be human, in all of its suffering and all of its beauty. My intention is to provide a
relationship
in which we can identify and explore the narratives you have about your life and self. And then in the safety of our
relationship
, I want us to begin the process of deconstructing what has been and start reconstructing what is to come. Through this process, I believe we will find acceptance and healing.

In our therapeutic
relationship
, I will invite you to consider how past relationships and experiences in your life may be impacting your current relationships and life satisfaction.
Sometimes our lives get the better of us and before we know it, we find ourselves longing to be heard, understood, and valued. The things you are going through matter. You matter. One of my favorite parts about being a counselor is that through providing a safe place for you to process your life, you can foster honesty and openness with yourself in new ways. I hope to be a
relationship
for you that allows you to feel accepted and cared for as you are, while encouraging you to gain the confidence to be the person you want to become.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
