Through a relationship built upon mutual respect, trust and unconditional acceptance, I provide an open, non-judgmental space for you to explore your concerns and needs.
Does this sound like you? No matter how hard you try, negative thoughts fill your head, swimming around, taking over your day. You try so hard, but everything you do feels wrong, imperfect, and uncomfortable. Sometimes you may feel full of energy and then crash or become tearful and sad or angry and irritable. Sometimes you may have nightmares or flashbacks or lose time just sitting and thinking. Perhaps you have felt this way and gone through the same behavior patterns your whole life. Or maybe, these feelings are brand new, and you have never felt this way before. For whatever reason, you are seeking help and I am glad you are.

It is a sacred relationship built upon trust and safety that allows us to gain new perspective.
Change is the language of life. All things change, from mountain peaks eroded with time to our very thoughts, feelings, and life circumstances. We all have within us great potential for profound growth and change in our lives. As we learn about how our past impacts our current and future actions, we gain increased awareness and insight into ourselves. Through increasing our awareness of self in the present moment, change is made possible. You do not have to continue struggling - together we can shift the way you think, feel, and perceive the world around you.

I specialize in working with individuals, couples , and families regarding their relationship challenges and conflicts.
I work with clients in the midst of difficult times, sorting through challenging situations and life transitions. Many clients come with concerns about a relationship , marital problems, family conflict, or because they are somewhere in the process of divorce. They are wanting a safe place to talk, objective listening, support, direction that will facilitate change, and a process forward. Divorcing couples that I see are looking for a gentler more thoughtful approach to divorce. One that encourages a workable ongoing coparenting relationship .

It's so easy to become overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, and unexpected obstacles that impact our lives. The uncertainties of life can make us feel stuck, a sense of loss, or hopeless. Depression can isolate us; making us feel alone and frustrated with negative self-talk and self-doubt. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help. I applaud you for taking the first steps toward control, change, and transformation in your life. Finding the right fit in a therapeutic relationship is crucial in supporting your journey; let's work together in grounding identity, building strengths, exploring expression, and reconnecting the imagination.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
