You are the person everyone relies on. Capable, responsible, and always holding things together. Yet beneath the surface, you may feel exhausted and overwhelmed. If you are struggling with anxiety, grief, burnout, or the lasting impact of past experiences, you do not have to carry it alone. Therapy can be a place where you feel understood, supported and able to focus on your own healing.

Life is complex – often filled with positive experiences and also times of facing challenges. At times, it can feel overwhelming to manage some of those challenges on your own, and therapy can be a great source of support. I seek to create a space where you can understand more about yourself, the current challenges you are facing, and feel empowered in reaching your personal goals, hopes, and dreams. Therapy is most beneficial when you feel a sense of partnership and ownership in your process, from the first meeting, in setting your goals for therapy, and in setting a pace that supports your needs, healing, and growth.

Sometimes, our mind can stop us from taking necessary steps in our day to day lives or in making big decisions. You might find yourselves feeling really stuck or you might notice difficulty sleeping or excess tension in your body. You might find that your thoughts go back to the same worry over and over again while you’re trying to enjoy time with friends, family, or even watching TV. You’re not alone in this feeling; I am here to help. Asking for help can be challenging, and there may be a myriad of reasons that keep us from reaching out. Some of us fear stigma, while others believe that needing support is a sign of weakness.

You learned early to be strong, capable, low-maintenance, the one who doesn’t need much. You handle it, fix it, ignore it. Those strategies likely protected you and kept relationships intact. But now anxiety lingers, your mind rarely rests, and you're exhausted trying to finally feel like you’re “enough.” Maybe boundaries bring guilt. Maybe you feel unseen and unheard by those around you. Together, we’ll gently uncover the roots of these patterns and nurture a life that feels steadier, kinder, and fully your own.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
