Whether it’s managing chronic stress and overwhelm, rebuilding confidence and resilience, or finally gaining freedom and relief from the weight of past experiences, I will help you move forward with a powerful mind-body approach blending techniques like CBT, neuroscience, EMDR & somatic therapy, to help you break though and break free.
I help people who feel stuck, anxious, burnt-out, overwhelmed, those struggling with the effects of trauma, declining health or fatigue. Clients tell me after our work together they experience lasting relief, a calm confidence, better performance, life balance, more energy. Feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? You’re a driven professional who "has it all together" on the outside, but inside, it’s a different story. Anxiety, self-doubt, and constant stress keep you in overdrive, leaving you exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the life you truly want. I get it i was once there myself.

I have specialized training and experience using research-based EMDR, CPT and CBT.
Anxiety, hopelessness, irritability, distrust, trouble sleeping, lack of motivation, and low self-esteem are all signals that your body is trying to process and cope with something. Your past experiences and present environment shape the way new dynamics, trauma, interpersonal relationships, and loss affect you and this is different for each person. You may notice changes in your thoughts, behaviors, and feelings; perhaps new physical symptoms. Disruptions in connection, contentment, confidence, and peace happen in life. Together, we will identify your body’s signals, and the areas of your life you would like to be different.

My counseling experience is very broad, and includes working with trauma survivors, Veterans, people struggling with anxiety, depression, mania, addictions, family and marital therapy, adolescent and child therapy, behavior modification, CBT, and DBT.
My name is Pam Slater, and my journey into the counseling field began when I was a High School English teacher, teaching young adults who were 3 years younger than myself. As a result, the students quickly found trust in me, and opened up to me about their personal issues. Having already completed my B.A. in English Education at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, I returned to school to obtain my Masters Degree in Counseling at Texas A&M University.

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy and/or EMDR, Motivational Interviewing and Reality Therapy in my practice.
Do you ever just sit back and think to yourself, I really wish I could talk to someone? Someone who I can share my feelings with that is neutral yet trusting and warm? If the answer is yes then you've found that person in me. Life can be challenging and it can leave you feeling like you are jumping through hoops just to get by; having someone to help you manage those situations makes it easier. I provide a safe environment where you can feel free to express yourself without judgment. We can work together to achieve your goals...therapy goals...for positive change.

I keep it real with evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, not the “just breathe and be present” kind, the kind that actually work.
Is your mind is always running—overthinking, overplanning, second-guessing, playing out every scenario? It’s exhausting, but you don’t know how to shut it off. You hold it together on the outside, but inside, the anxiety is real. This space is for the everyday anxious girl, especially Black women and women of color who are tired of carrying it all. Maybe you struggle to relax, replay conversations, or feel like you have to be everything for everyone. Here, you can unpack it all, break free from self-doubt, and finally find some peace without guilt. Your healing starts here, and I’m honored to be a part of it.

I incorporate cognitive/behavioral concepts to enrich the therapy process.
I believe everyone has a story with experiences, past and present, that make up who they are and how they relate to others and the world. I believe everyone has abilities to express themselves in healthy, adaptive, and genuine ways but often need help discovering or recovering these abilities. If you desire to work towards further understanding yourself, the way you relate to others, and the world around you, I can help! I enjoy working with anxiety, depression, life adjustments, mood disturbances, relational trauma, and grief with older adolescents and adults as well as helping provide diagnostic clarity and insight in assessment.

I approach therapy with a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Everyone needs assistance and guidance from time to time. I have helped individuals to navigate a variety of issues. I am comfortable working with individuals who are on the Autism Spectrum, the LGBTQ+ population, navigating trauma related issues, anxiety, depression, and management of interpersonal relationships.
