I know how daunting it can feel to search for the right therapist for you. My approach with clients is warm, direct, empathetic and doused with humor. I love approaching all sessions from a strengths based perspective, intermingled with different modalities. My go to are trauma informed modalities, coupled with a behavioral approach. I like to dive deep into what makes you you, to understand yourself fully, and gain clarity as to what contributes to where you find yourself today.

Experience includes 12-Step programs, addiction recovery, marital, grief, boundaries, divorce, codependency, inner child, psychodrama, sex and love addiction, trauma, time management, coaching, career, financial and pastoral counseling.
The clients that work best with me are ready to identify obstacles that are preventing them from living a fulfilling life. I guide my clients to empower themselves and be survivors, not victims. I assign frequent homework and will not work harder than you. I will most often tell you what you don't want to hear, in a loving, kind way. I use a variety of treatment modalities in any given session. I also have extensive knowlege and resources regarding the 12 steps. If requested, I can counsel from a Christian perspective.

Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience each other as real people. I can promise you that I am as real as it gets! I want to help you achieve whatever solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the process as much as possible and experiencing yourself in new ways. Simply put, I don't believe therapy has to always be a painful thing. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

In order to get where we want to go, we must first look at where we have been and how that has led to where we are. Reserving judgement and remaining curious are paramount to progress, as is a willingness to engage in change that, at times, may be a little uncomfortable. We will work collaboratively to decide if you agree with the existing beliefs you carry, and leave behind those that no longer serve you. Together, we will incorporate changes that help shape new, congruent ideals that set you on a path to your most fulfilled and authentic self.

You feel overwhelmed and burnt out by the world’s expectations. If you're honest, you feel lost and alone, and your relationships are suffering. You wish you were free from the lies you’ve been believing – the thing is, they don’t feel like lies anymore; they’ve become background noise and they feel so true. Whether it’s about who you are or how you're showing up in your relationships, there's a voice telling you that you're not good enough, not worth it, and don’t deserve to be happy. My work is focused on helping you grow in self-awareness, knowing your value, and uprooting destructive beliefs while replacing them with new truths.

The journey of coming home to the truest and highest part of ourselves can be filled with excitement, fear, hope, and ultimately freedom. I consider walking with people along the road to more authenticity and wholeness a sacred pilgrimage. I am awed by the courage of those who desire to live more fully by exploring the needs that are met by unhealthy habitual patterns involving feelings, thoughts and behaviors.

You’re successful on paper—but privately running on cold brew, cortisol, and competence. You lead meetings, manage households, and make it look effortless, even when anxiety, burnout, or relationship tension is simmering under the surface. You’re tired of being “the strong one” and want calm that doesn’t require pushing harder or holding your breath. At Love and Theory, therapy isn’t about pathology- it’s about realignment. I work with high-achieving Dallas professionals and couples seeking individual therapy, couples therapy, and relief from burnout—without losing themselves in the process.

We all desire acceptance, love, and to be truly seen by our community. However, our experiences can sometimes make it challenging to feel that love and acceptance. When exploring sexual and gender identities, not living authentically can lead to anxiety and depression. At other times, being part of the queer community is just one aspect of who we are, and it can be a relief to explore other life issues with a counselor who affirms and understands our sexual and gender identity. I am supervised by Beck Munsey, PhD, LPC-S.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
