As a Christian , I can offer spiritual support and prayer for clients who request it.
When life is confusing, challenging, or troubling, you need a safe place to process hurts and challenges. Maybe you’ve found it challenging to know whom you can talk about what’s going on now or what’s happened in the past. Maybe you’ve found it difficult to know who to trust. Whether you’re in the middle of hard circumstances or struggling with repercussions from past events, I’d love to join you in the process of growth & healing. My training includes a growth model rooted in the work of Dr. John Townsend Dr. Henry Cloud (co-authors of the Boundaries books) as well as various trauma & abuse informed approaches.

I am a Christian -oriented therapist who is inspired to help others find that inner peace that may be eluding them or just be a safe haven to talk with during difficult times.
Counseling is my second career. I have always been in a helping profession and my journey to becoming a clinician began as a teacher. Helping others has always been a passion of mine whether it was in the classroom or in a counseling office. In every client that I have ever had the privilege to be a part of their journey, it has always been my sincere hope that I could at least plant a seed of hope and inspiration. I see clients with various issues. I focus on teen and women issues but do see individuals for many other issues, such as trauma and depression.

As a biracial Black clinician, I predominately help Christian women of color to heal from family wounds and social trauma, by creating a safe space that allows you to be your genuine self, while feeling heard and validated. Do you find yourself feeling frustrated with your personal relationships (out of control children, conflict with your husband)? Is the chaos you are experiencing negatively affecting other areas in your life? Have you gained professional success but you feel like you are living a lie or sometimes a nightmare behind closed doors? Perhaps you see painful family patterns from the past creeping into the present.

I integrate Catholic/ Christian approaches to my work with client's who desire the Divine Healer to be a part of their healing process.
I am passionate about bringing healing to all aspects of a person. I specialize in trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I take an eclectic approach in my counseling practice and use the techniques that work for each individual in order to bring harmony to all parts of a person’s internal system. Trauma causes deep and lasting effects on the survivor's thought processes, nervous system, and physical body. Behaviors and reactions of trauma survivors can be seemingly unpredictable, confusing, contradictory and lead to pathologizing diagnosis.

At times, life can be down right hard. It becomes exhausting to manage how you feel and how you sometimes respond. Crying easily, worrying, and feeling alone, angry, overwhelmed, and sad are all common signs of depression and anxiety. I want you to know you are not alone. I am here to support you and help you through such a challenging time. It is my desire to assist you in learning how to respond appropriately to triggers for better emotional control and to address unresolved trauma that has left you feeling low, empty, and ashamed. I will incorporate biblical/ Christian principles, if requested.

As a Christian counselor it is my position that true healing and wholeness comes from the Lord, Jesus Christ.
In one's walk towards wholeness and change, there are various barriers and hindrances one must overcome: The prism in which we view life, the messages we received about ourselves from our family of origin, what has happened to us and what we tell ourselves about it, our fear of feelings, and our learned coping mechanisms are just a few. As a Christian counselor, it is my desire to provide a safe and accepting environment in which we can walk and work together to expose, understand, and overcome these barriers.

I do not limit my clientele though to the christian community.
I am a licensed professional counselor in private practice. I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare; I also offer private pay sessions. I specialize in individual therapy with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and addiction. I work from a psychodynamic perspective in therapy which means that I am interested in unconscious motivations that could be contributing to dissatisfaction in life. I take great interest in dreams and recurring fantasies and see them as useful in therapy if the client ever wants to process them.

Clients I see are usually struggling with couple/relationship problems, parenting difficulty, blended family issues, anger, anxiety, adjusting to difficult life issues, and depression. Most clients are not enjoying life and want help making some changes and finding their way through pain, circumstances, and difficulty. About half of my client's are looking for a therapist who can identify with a Christian /Biblical perspective as well. I am currently only offering Teletherapy.

I have been trained in several types of Christian inner healing ministry (Sozo, etc) and enjoy blending my formal education with my spiritual training to form an effective treatment for the whole person.
I provide a safe place where you can learn tools to break negative patterns and toxic cycles so that you can feel empowered to get healing and transform your life. I utilize EMDR, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFit), and mindfulness while incorporating a faith-based and Somatic approach in sessions. I want to walk alongside of you to bring healing by helping you investigate triggers, learn to process your emotions, get your needs met, learn to regulate and ground your nervous system, and get you connected to internal safety, love and self-compassion. Please note I am VIRTUAL only.

Are you ready to elevate your life to a level of liberation? John 8:36 in the Christian Bible proclaims, "Who the Son sets free is free indeed.
What imprisons you? Is it your constant overthinking? Your ruthless inner critic? The unrelenting need to be perfect? The guilt of wanting more and battling to be content? Do you ultimately feel you don't know who you are?

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
