My ideal client is someone in Texas who is committed to their personal growth and recognizes the importance of nurturing their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They may be struggling with the lasting effects of trauma, depression, or other life challenges, but they are motivated to begin the healing process and reclaim their sense of self. This individual is seeking more than symptom relief—they want lasting transformation. They are ready to explore the impact of their past experiences, develop healthy coping strategies, and break free from patterns that no longer serve them.

You’re juggling a million things—kids, work, life—and somewhere in there, you’re trying to do the inner work. You’ve faced losses, big or small, or maybe just feel the weight of old wounds that never quite left. You want to show up fully for your family, for yourself, and maybe even for the parts of life that feel joyful again—but doing that while keeping all the balls in the air? Exhausting. And honestly, you don’t have to do it alone.

Therapy is for you. Your pace, your experiences, your way of making sense of things. We slow things down, notice patterns, and get curious about what’s coming up, especially the parts of you that feel stuck, protective, or in conflict, and the stories that have shaped how you see yourself and your relationships. Therapy with me is warm, honest, and steady. I focus on helping you build a more connected relationship with yourself and with others, one that feels more aligned and sustainable over time. If this feels like a good fit, I’d be so glad to connect.

Hello, I'm Haley, a specialist in OCD, trauma, and anxiety. I utilize specific methods for these focuses including EMDR, ERP, and ACT. My clients come to heal from parent/partner abuse, neglect, traumatic events, and life stressors. If you are too familiar with common long-lasting effects of stressful environments like anxiety, overthinking, negative thoughts, anger, difficulties connecting with others, relationship struggles, people-pleasing tendencies, or self-confidence, then you know how difficult managing these things can be. I help clients learn to overcome these and feel more in control of their own lives, minds, and bodies.

Sometimes, our mind can stop us from taking necessary steps in our day to day lives or in making big decisions. You might find yourselves feeling really stuck or you might notice difficulty sleeping or excess tension in your body. You might find that your thoughts go back to the same worry over and over again while you’re trying to enjoy time with friends, family, or even watching TV. You’re not alone in this feeling; I am here to help. Asking for help can be challenging, and there may be a myriad of reasons that keep us from reaching out. Some of us fear stigma, while others believe that needing support is a sign of weakness.

You feel disconnected from your body, your relationships, or conversations. This can look like feeling detached from your emotions, struggling to identify what you need or feel, having difficulty staying present, or feeling stuck in your head. You find yourself replaying conversations, questioning your reactions, or worrying that you said or did the wrong thing. In relationships, you hold back your thoughts and feelings, avoid conflict or vulnerability, and find yourself shutting down or reacting in ways you don't fully understand. Trauma, loss, and relationship wounds can make it hard to trust yourself and stay connected to others.

So, you've had a panic attack. It was scary and you thought you were having a heart attack, until someone suggested it was likely overwhelming anxiety that caught up to your nervous system. That sensation usually shows up after many hours of pretending everything is okay when you know it isn't. Since then the what-ifs run all day. The restlessness. The plans you cancel, the flight you won't book, the room you won't walk into. It's starting to get old as your life grows smaller. And you keep telling yourself, "I just haven't felt like myself lately, but it will pass." That you're exhausted... but this is normal, right?

Body Image Therapists
How does body image affect mental health?
Poor body image can influence mental health because it can reduce self-esteem and decrease functioning in other areas of one's life. Negative body image may hinder someone's ability to perform daily tasks, including professional and social responsibilities, because they may feel self-conscious or shame surrounding their appearance; a desire to change one's body as a result of negative body image can also trigger behaviors such as extreme dieting, excessive exercise, or obsessive social media comparison. Poor body image is associated with a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, although many people experience negative body image even in the absence of meeting the diagnostic criteria for any mental health disorders.

What does it mean to have a positive body image?
Body image refers to how one internally perceives their appearance and internally "talks" to themself about their body. Positive body image is therefore indicative of a positive perception of one's self and positive internal self-talk that underscores one's strengths. People who have good body image often have higher self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence, and they also often recognize how external factors, such as social media or relationship patterns, can influence body image. While body image can change at different life stages and in response to various triggers, practicing self-acceptance and a body-positive mindset can help maintain a more stable sense of positive body image.

Is body image the same as self-esteem?
Body image and self-esteem are often related, but they are distinct concepts. Self-esteem is a broader term that can be shaped by a number of factors outside of body image, including one's functioning at school or in the workplace; it refers to one's capacity to handle various life challenges. Poor body image can be one way in which one's self-esteem is reduced. Reduced self-esteem as a result of poor body image can cause individuals to feel negative about their appearance, withdraw from social interactions, and/or rely on harmful behaviors as a coping mechanism. A "body positive" approach to body image therapy is therefore often used to encourage a more positive view of one's self and thus encourage better self-esteem.

What type of therapy is best to foster a positive body image?
The type of therapy best suited to improve body image depends on each person, as there is not a single therapy specific to body image improvement. That said, many individuals with poor body image benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy. CBT can be used to help challenge distorted or negative thoughts about one's body, while ACT and mindfulness practices can facilitate a more positive body image through self-acceptance and identification of one's personal strengths. Regardless of treatment type, clients should look for body image therapists who encourage the development of a sense of self outside of their external appearance and help clients reduce unwanted behaviors developed as a result of poor self-esteem, such as dieting or disordered eating patterns.
