The clients I work best with are those ready to seriously and deeply engage in the process of growth. This process is not easy. It requires a commitment to change, a commitment to the uncomfortable, and a commitment to yourself. While the change process requires much, the benefits you will gain far outweigh the effort you put into it. In our work, we will address psychological distress while also strengthening the skills and traits that make you who you are. Using evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, therapy becomes a space to confront internal and external barriers and cultivate lasting change.

I approach counseling from a whole-person or holistic perspective. We will address your specific needs and find the therapeutic path that is just right for you. We will work on all aspects of your life; collaborating with your doctors, nutritionist, psychiatrist, school etc. to affect the most complete and long-lasting change possible. Uniquely, I offer concierge options for those seeking more in-depth therapeutic services. I also make house-calls and work with individuals and families in a more intensive therapeutic approach to address more sever clinical concerns. This has shown to be helpful in reducing hospitalizations.

Therapy can be an intimidating process. The thought of being so vulnerable with a stranger and the uncertainty of therapy might cause reluctance even to start. However, therapy does not have to be such a scary journey. As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate, I believe that therapy is both a learning process of therapy and self, as well as modifying that process to help in finding needed solutions. I specialize in working with individuals who have depression, anxiety, and autism (ages 10 to 35). If you are currently experiencing this, therapy may be an intimidating but bold step to take. Let’s begin your journey together!

I enjoy and have spent most of my time as a therapist working with pre-teens, teens and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulty with life transitions, difficulty with change, and those struggling with diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD. Those who feel they struggle with things or events that others seem to handle with ease. Individuals who at one time have thought "what is wrong with me?" or taken notice that they feel and think differently than those around them seem to.

Many of the families I work with are navigating the challenges of raising a child with autism, ADHD, learning differences, or significant severe or complex behavior concerns. Parents often come to me feeling overwhelmed, unsure of how to manage daily struggles at home or school, and wanting to better understand their child’s needs. Their goals are clear: they want practical tools, effective strategies, and a path forward that helps their child grow, thrive, and connect more deeply with others.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapists

Who is ABA therapy for?

ABA therapy is most widely applied to teach basic behavioral, communication, and social skills to children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders. It may also be used to help people undergoing rehabilitation following brain injury. It uses reward-based learning techniques to impart essential life skills. ABA is also used in the treatment of some other conditions. One is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) , to help children overcome difficulties with concentration and controlling impulsive behaviors. For people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, it is sometimes used to help them overcome compulsive behavior. ABA therapy is also sometimes used in cases of PTSD, to help people turn to positive behaviours when they have experiences that trigger distressing memories.

Why do people need ABA?

Children with autism and other developmental disorders need ABA therapy as a way to learn how to communicate and engage with others, improve their general ability to function and lead fulfilling lives, and diminish dangerous behaviors. The techniques used in ABA therapy are based on established principles of learning, and positive reinforcement—supplying earned rewards—is an important strategy for motivating positive behaviour change.

What happens in ABA therapy?

The first thing that happens in ABA therapy is an evaluation of the child in service of developing a treatment plan. The therapist meets with the child’s parent(s) in order to learn about the family and the child, assesses the child’s behavior and ability level, and then creates a plan tailored to the specific needs of that person. Once the treatment goals are established, the skills to be learned are broken down into small, component steps. Treatment sessions focus on learning and practicing each step, and furnishing meaningful rewards as steps are learned, behaviors are spontaneously implemented, and goals are accomplished. ABA therapists also train caregivers and families so that behavioral progress occurs beyond the clinical setting.

What problems does ABA therapy treat?

One of the primary goals of ABA therapy is to decrease the outbursts and other nonproductive behaviors of children with autism. At the same time, ABA aims to remedy language deficits and help such children learn how to communicate successfully. ABA therapy helps children learn age-appropriate social skills and gain skills, such as attention and focus, that are necessary for school.
