Are you caught in a cycle of anxious thoughts, avoidance, and the quiet dread that things will never change?
Let's start a collaborative journey where we understand your challenges, uncover patterns of avoidance, and set goals that feel meaningful and achievable. For OCD, social anxiety, or specific phobias, I use exposure-based therapies to help you make sense of how anxiety keeps you stuck, then gradually face fears in a way that feels safe and manageable.

It takes so much effort to get out of bed in the morning and you look around and see everyone else managing to juggle different aspects of life, yet you can’t seem to stop wondering how everyone but you has their “stuff” together while you are over here feeling like crap and spending time with worry and sadness.
I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help. With the ability to see clients both at my office and in-person, along with online scheduling and full 60-minute sessions, therapy has never been this easy to go to and those last 10 extra minutes make a big difference. Disclaimer: I may cuss a little, so apologies in advance for that. Got to keep it real, after all.

I am passionate about caring for people and animals. I enjoy creating open, curious environments with my patients where we learn and grow together. I think people are fascinating and unique. Unfortunately, there are no "quick fixes" that bring about instant, dramatic healing. Healing is gradual, organic, and takes time. I love working with people who want to work with me. Feel free to reach out.

I am experienced in working with adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety in its many flavors and forms.
I have extensive training in treating OCD including certification through the IOCDF Behavioral Therapy Training Institute. Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are the methods most supported by the research so I use these when working with OCD. I am also licensed in Colorado and can do telehealth throughout the state.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
