working to help the child and teen to be a functioning member of the family.
We can provide a number of different ways to connect with kids in counseling. We have several therapists on staff who are each unique individuals trained to use their unique personality to help kids and families. We have several different play therapy rooms – and use the one that is most fitting for any particular kid. We have a number of options for teens – from sitting in a ‘regular’ room with couch and chairs, to playing ping pong on the ping pong table while talking, or chatting while playing pool at the pool table or playing a game. We have an art room to allow for artistic expression of feelings, and some of us connect over baking cookies with the kids! For parents we have regular meeting rooms with couches and easy chairs, to a conference room when we need a table to sit at. We have rooms for groups to work on social skills together.

Do you want to understand and feel close to your teen again?
I work with my clients to find existing patterns in their intimate and familial relationships that are no longer serving them. Then I use a tailored and eclectic approach to help the families I work with find new solutions and ways of being with their loved ones, so each family member can feel more understood and connected.

Whether you’re a teen juggling school stress, a young adult figuring out your next steps, or just trying to navigate life, I’m here to help.
Life can be messy, and let’s be real—navigating anxiety, self-doubt, and major life changes can feel overwhelming. You’re constantly overthinking, second-guessing yourself, and struggling to feel confident in your own skin. Maybe imposter syndrome is hitting hard, school or work feels like too much, or you're just tired of feeling stuck in the same cycles. Whether it's adapting to new environments, managing relationships, or learning to set boundaries, you want to feel more secure, less anxious, and truly at peace. I work with teens, college-age adults, and grown folks, helping them build confidence and take control of their lives.

I trained at Johns Hopkins and Boys Town in Omaha where I specialized in the treatment of severe child and adolescent behaviors.
As a Cognitive Behavioral therapist, I work with children, adolescents, and adults to identify unhelpful thought and behavior patterns that maintain suffering, deminish quality of life, and keep people from living their best lives. Along with CBT, I specialize in several evidence-based treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I believe in “using what works” and designing interventions that are personalized to each client’s needs. This approach provides clients with a unique skillset that will continuously aid in personal growth and development across the lifespan.

I enjoy working with adolescent and adult clients on areas that include relationships/interpersonal issues, women's health concerns, processing trauma, and life and career transitions.
Trying to understand what life is about can be confusing and challenging. Sometimes, right when you begin to understand life, boom! Life throws another curve ball your direction. Those curve balls can really hinder you from fully enjoying your life. Seeking guidance can help you gain strength and learn new strategies for tackling such situations. I strongly believe that each person on this planet is looking for a safe place to feel comfortable exploring their true self. I would love to provide that space and help you on your journey.

I help adolescent and adult men and women manage trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD or substance use as they navigate challenges and life transitions.
You feel stuck and unsure of how to keep going. You’re searching for clarity and peace but feel lost and uncertain. Days are long and feel purposeless. Perhaps you feel distanced from those you love, and you’re not sure who you are anymore. You’re angry, sad, and spent. Calling it quits, running, and hiding sounds like the best idea yet. Storms of life hit and they hurt, leaving you feeling wounded, angry, and isolated. No matter the storm you may be facing – trauma, addiction, familial stress, loneliness, depression, anxiety – you are not alone. I am here to help.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
