You or your partner may have engaged in an unfaithful act, overloaded with work or parental duties, or experienced complexity in the blending of two households. People enjoy daily routines in life. Going to work, spending time with
family
and friends, and hobbies that they love to pursue. Sometimes, unhealthy habits intertwine with those routines, such as overuse of alcohol or other substances. These habits can interrupt daily routines and turn into an obsession. Instead of looking forward to the weekend to spend time with healthy endeavors, the weekends could be a time to escape with the unhealthy obsession which could lead to addiction over time.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Through understanding comes healing and growth. Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, trauma, or emotional pain. I want you to live a life of true happiness and find meaning in work,
family
, friendships, and all areas of life. I want to help you achieve whatever solutions and life challenges you are looking for while enjoying the process as much as possible and experiencing yourself in new ways. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

I help people by inviting them to explore their inner life of thoughts and emotions, their
family
of origin, phases of life, and significant relationships that have been formed along the way.
My clients tend to be thoughtful, goal-oriented, and serious about life’s big questions. They seek to be more adaptive, unafraid, and want to find freedom in the face of life’s disappointments, griefs and anxieties. My hope for each client I work with is to become more fully human in the therapy process.

Relationships with
family
and coworkers can be supportive.
Your life is not supposed to be like this. Maybe you work late to avoid going home. Maybe you or your partner’s affair has put your relationship in crisis. Or maybe you are facing challenges at work. You care about your relationships and career, but you find yourself exhausted, angered too easily, tired of arguments that cannot be won, and devoid of patience.

I believe we are formed by biology,
family
, friends, diet and job stress - which influences our thoughts, self esteem, and perfectionism. I aim to create a safe, accepting place for clients to talk about their deepest concerns and worries. I help clients determine what is important to create change, and together we work to develop the skills for that change to happen. Clients who truly fit with my style desire to release self doubt, guilt, worry, and feeling "never good enough." It is in the context of this accepting relationship that the client begins to feel genuinely worthy.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
