I enjoy working with individuals with Bipolar Disorder to help them develop a treatment plan and to provide useful education about the disorder. Accurate information is critical in developing acceptance of the disorder and fighting stigma. Regarding infidelity, I work to help the patient(s) heal from the trauma and heartbreak of infidelity. Managing anger or obsessive thoughts, learning to be vulnerable again, and developing forgiveness are important goals for the betrayed spouse , whether separating or reconciling. Rebuilding trust, adhering to total honesty (the hallmark of healing), and being behaviorally accountable are tasks that I help the straying spouse develop.

My intention is to LISTEN, and to explore the possibility that together we can establish a relationship of trust and then a "therapeutic relationship " which will allow you to feel the safety necessary to be fully transparent.
I practice what I term Integral Personal Growth Work....integrating body, mind and spirit. I embrace the belief that each of carries within us the capacity for healing, growth and the recovery of our original birthright for wholeness. My work is intended to facilitate and cooperate with what is already "wanting to happen" with-in each of us. I seek to address early damage, emotional deficits and developmental traumas that can block our capacity for full aliveness leaving us consciously and unconsciously locked into coping patterns that often inhibit our becoming all we can be and celebrating the gifts that are our true essence.

Hello, it's my aim to partner with you as you seek to reach your goals in improving and/or eliminating the current symptoms that led you to look for the services of a mental health professional. Additionally, I have researched the benefits of more holistic treatments including aromatherapy for mental health. This can be easily incorporated in the treatment process if you so desire.

I have treated various clients with trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, sexual assault, relationship conflicts, grief, life transitions, and more.
Hello! My name is Gabrielle "Gaby" Larson. I approach therapy from a humanistic perspective, where I incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques including mindfulness, expressive arts, and highlighting strengths and resources individuals possess. I work to create a therapeutic environment that is comfortable and allows individuals to feel safe exploring their vulnerabilities. Each individual is different and deserves unique care based on their needs. As a humanistic therapist, I focus on acknowledging different identities clients hold and how these impact them on a personal and institutionalized level.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
