I also enjoy working with children who have experienced a traumatic event or have hard and/or confusing behaviors.
If you’ve noticed a pattern of “stuck-ness”, or that you’re feeling confused about what you’re experiencing, it may be time to start therapy that focuses on trauma. Trauma can inform how we view ourselves, the world, and others, and sometimes these beliefs manifest as negative cycles. Maybe you noticed a pattern in your family of origin that you don’t want to recreate in your own life, but feel stuck on how to prevent it from happening. Maybe you’re noticing that you react a lot more than respond. It feels like a new situation, but same pattern. The good news is, you don’t have to navigate this alone.

I am passionate about helping hopeless individuals, children and couples rekindle the gifts of joy, playfulness and connection.
You know there is something wrong yet you can't point it out. You feel lost and you feel like you are drowning with no escape. You want to feel better so you are searching the internet looking for answers and help, yet, you may feel anxious or stressed about having to start all over again on the life you worked so hard and dreamed of. You have memories of a once happy life and now you feel it is crumbling down and it is out of your control and you are saddened because you have invested so much. Your life doesn't feel the same and there is not enough energy or connection to repair the caused damages.

Therapy can be an intimidating and difficult endeavor, but often with worthwhile results. Sometimes we simply want to understand ourselves better, improve our relationships, or find more balance in our lives, and other times we have serious concerns with our mood, anxiety, or current behavioral patterns. I use a personable, humorous approach in therapy to assist in navigating some of the discomfort inherent in the therapeutic process. Therapy is a place of non-judgment, and I am open and accepting of all persons and identities.

My specialties are trauma, Children and adolescents, neurodivergence, divorce/separation, parenting, and maternal mental health.
Each person has a unique story about what's going on and how they got there. What I incorporate into my sessions is authenticity, humor, and a pragmatic approach. I strive to build a solid rapport with each client, as I know that the therapist/client relationship is essential to healing. I use an eclectic approach and I pull from a lot of different modalities when working with clients. What I find is more important than any theory or modality is being there my client in whatever moment they are in.

“Play is children ’s language and toys are their words” -Garry Landreth.
I am a mental counselor licensed in two states: TX and WA. I believe everyone has their own defined resiliency. Being resilient does not mean that people don’t experience stress, emotional upheaval, and suffering. My approach to counseling is focused on understanding a person holistically. I place a heavy emphasis on establishing a safe and collaborative relationship with all my clients; I provide each client with a safe, non-judgmental environment to express their issues and concerns. I hope to help people find their strengths and support them in their unique needs.

Child Therapists

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
