I work with adolescents, adult individuals, and families on issues ranging from communication, emotional management, defiance, depression, ADHD, decision making, respect for authority, parenting approaches, sexual development, pornography addiction, and grief healing.
I really enjoy the work that I do as a professional counselor. I like the fact that this work is my first choice of profession and not my fall back or secondary job. I have worked hard to continue training and improving my craft for over 20 years. I believe my core principle in doing this work is to focus on quality of work over quantity of clients. My goal is to provide the very best effort for each client/family I am fortunate enough to encounter to help them find their best version of themselves. I do not offer teletherapy. Only in-person sessions.

Philosopher Lao Tzu said “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” I commend you on taking that step. You have shown a lot of courage searching for someone to help you on your journey. Maybe you feel like you have already tried everything, but there are other paths to be explored. Together we can find "you" again, and move forward. No one needs to be "fixed". What is needed are new skills to help cope with life's challenges. If you are uncertain about your needs, please call/email me. Together we can discuss options and next steps.

I believe in the resilience of the human spirit. Life brings many hardships and challenges, and it brings us opportunities to learn and grow. I have worked with many people who battle anxiety and depression, and still others working to move past traumatic experiences or addictions. Whatever circumstance you may be facing, there is hope! I believe that people in need of positive change desire an element of self-efficacy and control over the areas of their life that can indeed be brought under their power. This sense of control then contributes to better relationships, health, attitudes, and a more positive life!

My practice specializes in homicide survivor bereavement, providing a compassionate and structured environment for those navigating the profound trauma of loss.
In our first session, my priority is to provide a calm, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and supported. We will begin with a "soft landing"—a chance for us to get to know one another and for you to share what has brought you to therapy at your own pace. I don't expect you to have all the answers or even a clear narrative of your experience yet.

The experiences throughout our lives help to shape and mold us. At times, the stories we tell ourselves keep us shackled to the limiting beliefs we become anchored to. Engaging in a safe and empathetic conversation can help in uncovering the root of these unhealthy beliefs/habits and propel you forward with better meaning and understanding as you embark on a more hopeful path. This journey need not be traveled alone and through counseling, can be effective in remapping your life and how you perceive it.

I’m deeply committed to helping others navigate life’s challenges—whether that involves processing trauma, coping with grief, or simply overcoming the everyday struggles we all face.
My ideal client would be the client that recognizes their need for counseling and is committed to the process. I believe that each individual is unique; shaped by their own set of circumstances, struggles, and strengths. My person-centered approach to counseling is grounded in the belief that effective counseling must be tailored to the specific needs of each person, rather than relying on one-size-fits-all solutions. I value what makes my client different.

Adolescence and adulthood can both bring seasons of overwhelming emotions, difficult transitions, and unexpected loss.
My goal is not simply symptom relief, but empowerment — so you can better understand yourself, respond rather than react, and move forward with confidence and clarity.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
