I have worked with people recovering from Religious Trauma Syndrome, and coming out of toxic, abusive, and hyper religious backgrounds.
I am a strength based therapist using cognitive based approaches. I frequently draw inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman Stoic Philosophy and the Socratic Method of Dialogue, which I think of as the original inspiration for modern cognitive based approaches to psychotherapy, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I also have experience in gender-affirming counseling, transgender care, adolescent and teen issues, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
We all have our own stories. Some are of resilience and how we overcome. Some are of tragedy and how we can’t move on. At the end of the day, I think all each of us wants is to be loved and accepted for who we are. No matter your story, I admire your courage for seeking the support you need. I use a mixture of Narrative and Gestalt therapy to help you understand your life story and take better control of it. We focus on the different sides of ourselves, while exploring the past that has led us to this moment, and work to build a better future. I am open, empathetic, and willing and able to stand with you in the chaos.

While it may initially be difficult to talk about past trauma, I will work on helping the client learn relaxation strategies to use during any trauma reminders that may occur.
You are not broken, and you do not need fixing. However, therapy can be a tool to help you work on parts of your life that leave you feeling dissatisfied. It can be hard to ask others for help, and too many times we tend to keep our feelings locked inside. For those of us existing in a variety of roles- as a parent, a child, a sibling, a working professional, a student, and a friend- we are taught to be strong and do for others before we do for ourselves. This can be harmful and can lead to burnout in all aspects of our lives.

My specialty is in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which uses biological mechanisms to help your brain reprocess hard and traumatic memories. I also use elements of Ego state therapy, IFS and visualizations to help clients with high levels of dissociation and blocking beliefs to build internal resources and felt safety.

As a South Asian and BIPOC clinician, I have experience working with adult individuals with disordered eating, mood disorders, trauma & PTSD.
Seeking clarity in therapy can leave you feeling understood and can be a relief. As a licensed professional counselor in Texas, I provide virtual therapy for adult individuals. When you experience symptoms such as low moods, triggering thoughts and body image distress, this may lead you to feel overwhelmed with anxiety, depression or even stress and fatigue. Many people suffer in silence and avoid working on their thinking patterns which can lead to more challenging emotions like guilt, shame and unworthiness that can reinforce dysfunctional beliefs and behaviors endlessly.

These services focus on a range of issues, such as trauma, PTSD, sexual assault, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress, relationships with both self and others, coping skills, and self-esteem with the goal that no one should experience/endure pain alone.
Everyone shares the highs of life, but no one really talks about the lows. When we experience a low, it can leave us feeling as if we are not enough, alone, exhausted, defeated or misunderstood. Leaving us to go through the motions and endure the day to day responsibilities, relationships, and/or expectations. This may cause feelings of hopeless or struggle with unwanted thoughts. These feelings are overwhelming and isolating. Isolating in order to protect themselves, to protect others, or to avoid judgement. This is why Enduring Soul was created. To be seen, heard, and supported through your healing, without fear of judgment.

Unlike the “positive vibes only” mindset, I recognize that trauma has a deep effect on the brain.
My name is Ana and I believe that health embodies the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. We often struggle with balance when trying to make changes: stop drinking, start binge eating; end a toxic relationship, begin isolation; make more money, lose family time. This is often because we are addressing only one aspect of our health problem; during our first session, I will take inventory of your mental, physical, and emotional health to treat the root cause—not just the symptoms—and find a method that aligns best with your unique needs.

I enjoy working with clients that are experiencing stress from life changes, or have depression, anxiety, or trauma.
Stuck and not sure where to turn or who to talk to? Take a deep breath and start here. We all have stress in our lives. For some of us, it is juggling a job and a family, while for others, just getting through the day, minute by minute, can seem impossible. I'm here for all of it. I'm here for you.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
