Answering the question, "Why?" can be helpful, sometimes in figuring out how a troubling situation occurred. Why something happens, however, does not always give a clear direction towards solving a problem. "How?" something happened and "What?" can be done to promote positive change can be much more useful in resolving an otherwise troubling situation.

I am a Survivor of domestic violence. My name is Dr. Wanda R.W. McKinley, and I went through over 22 consecutive years of abuse. When we go through traumatic experiences in our lives, we sometimes find it hard to express our feelings and thoughts to others. Those trapped emotions eventually find their way to the surface and causes us to react in negative ways. Being a Survivor I understand the importance of being able to express yourself even if it is not verbally. I want to help individuals transition from abusive situations to being self-sufficient in society. The vision is to empower men and women so they can and will survive.
