I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy II (GMCT), EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Trauma Focused Narrative Therapy to engage a wide variety of life experiences and needs.
Your particular story is like no other's and must be engaged through no other lens. It has formed relational patterns and helped determine your life's path, usually with only partial awareness. Exploring your unique story with more intentionality and depth is my passion. I provide a safe and caring environment for individuals, couples and families to explore personal challenges and transform patterns that prevent them from experiencing satisfying lives and relationships. My approach is holistic and attachment-oriented, and takes into account many areas of functioning in client's lives.

Here you will be accepted as you are and challenged to move into neutrality/acceptance. I understand that sometimes our cultural values and the way we were raised can leave behind beliefs that are both hurtful and helpful. Climbing the mountain of self love is possible and here you’ll discover tools within yourself to manage the peaks and valleys along your journey.

I strongly believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship with client and therapist. Therefore, I meet clients where they are with compassion and warmth, while also sensitively challenging them to rebuild, and adopt healthier perspectives of themselves and the world. I am passionate about helping clients rediscover themselves using a holistic lens, connecting mind to body, as I view each client in a unique and whole perspective.

I use EFT to help partners uncover underlying emotions and communicate more effectively for connection, compassion, and caring.
You’re not sure when it happened, but you find yourself feeling like your partner is just your roommate who sleeps in the same bed. Arguments are increasing in frequency and intimacy is minimal or non-existent. Difficult conflict can lead to words and actions that hurt us at our deepest core. The growing emotional distance can leave us feeling lonely, helpless, and desperate for connection, safety, and security. You want to feel like you did all those years ago with your partner and feel safe and secure in your relationship again. I can help you.

However, I am attuned to experiential and emotionally focused methods that call for a strength-based approach, client autonomy, emotional awareness, personal growth, authenticity, and a mind-body connection.
For as long as I can remember, I recognized a fire in me to be able to provide a safe place for those who needed it. Speaking as a queer woman, my lived experiences have directed me towards becoming an advocate for systemic equality and change. My passions lie in trauma-informed care, gender-affirming care, and helping high conflict relationships of all backgrounds navigate through their journey. I strive to cultivate a non-judgmental environment that allows for connection and validty. Together we can identify and utilize your inner potential and strength to nurture the growth you desire to achieve.

I have experience in helping with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, as well as working through relationship issues. I enjoy working with clients as they explore the impact their environment had on them from an early age and how it has shaped their present self. Learning to be right where you are while also growing and healing is at the core of what impacts people. Being present with yourself looks like acknowledging and learning what you need which is challenging especially for young people, and those who experience anxiety and depression. Becoming more mindful and more self compassionate is at the core of wellness!

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
