Feel caught between who you are and who you want to be? Maybe it shows up as anxiety, perfectionism, or the pressure to always do more and be more. Maybe it’s the struggle to feel at home in your body, or feeling uprooted in motherhood. So many describe the same ache—wanting to feel confident and resilient in the face of challenges, but instead are left feeling overwhelmed and not like their true selves. I work with teen girls, young women, and moms who want support and solutions for these experiences.

Hello, I am Jessica Gifford, LMSW. Have you been married to a narcissist? You just realized your “not-so-bad” childhood was filled with pain you were too young to name? Maybe unspeakable things happened, and you’ve carried them alone. You look like you’re holding it together, but inside you’re exhausted from surviving instead of truly living. Trauma can leave you anxious, disconnected, and unsure of who you are becoming. You might replay painful memories, feel on edge, or struggle to trust yourself or others. Healing is slow, but possible.

Ready to call yourself out on your own bullshit? You can numb it, outrun it, or laugh it off—but it’ll still be there. Or you can face it and actually move on.
Maybe you're going through a life transition and not sure about your next steps. Anxiety, depression, or relationship conflict can make you feel alone even when you're surrounded by others. It may seem as though you're barely keeping your head above water. Frustration, confusion, and sadness may be robbing the joy from your life. I can help.

Life is a journey filled with both joy and sorrow, peace and struggle. We all face moments of loneliness, sadness, loss, and conflict. These moments are a part of every human experience and a result of living in an imperfect world. While pain and discomfort are inevitable, we don’t have to face them alone. I will strive to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and genuinely valued.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults to manage stress, anxiety and grief. I also support individuals and families navigating behavioral challenges, relationship issues, and parenting concerns.
I would be honored to work with you!

With over 20 years of experience working with families and youth as a Professional Counselor, School Counselor, Family Education Specialist, certified Personality Insights Analyst, and Neuroeducational Specialist, I recognize each individual as a person of value, regardless of their history or current struggles. We identify where you have been and how that equips you to set positive future goals. I see the best in people, even when they can't see it themselves.

Narcissistic Emotional Abuse - Nothing makes sense anymore. Two plus two no longer equals four. I search, find nothing. I feel like I'm going 'crazy.' "You're imagining things! I might as well be doing it as you're always blaming me for something." BUT YET, I know they are doing the very thing they say they're not doing and I keep second guessing myself. I want a simple life, yet nothing is simple anymore. Everything is just plain CRAZINESS. If you can relate to any of these situations, you most likely are involved with a narcissist, are being emotionally abused and need help. Are you feeling hopeless, worthless, lost and confused?

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
