My ideal client is someone who struggles with anxiety, anger management, and relationship issues. They maybe be feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure about how to handle their emotions in healthy ways. They may also be struggling with relationships, whether it's with friends,
family
, or romantic partners. My client's primary need is to learn skills and techniques to manage their anxiety and anger in a healthy way. They want to feel more in control of their emotions, and they want to improve their relationships with others. They may also want to work on communication skills and building self-confidence.

I look forward to collaborating with you and working together to figure out what your
family
needs to find healing and positive change.
Parenting is the most difficult job and yet it comes with the least amount of concrete instructions. You’ve read the parenting books, Googled all your questions, talked to friends, but your efforts don’t seem to make an impact. I believe that all of us do the best we can with the resources we have, and at times we ALL need some additional resources to make positive change. That’s where I come in! I aim to empower children, teens, and parents to find healing and confidence through interventions that are both evidence-based and tailored to your unique circumstances.

Life is hard! Whether it be stressors of everyday life,
family
or marital issues, school or work-related problems or because of recent or past trauma/grief, life can become messy. It gets hard not only for oneself, but also for loved ones or those around us. The reality is it happens to ALL of us. Sometimes all we need is for someone to listen with compassion and without judgment. Sometimes we require resources or coping strategies to help navigate the obstacles life throws at us. No matter what it is we need, therapy is the first step. Therapy equips us with the tools that we need to face whatever hardships we have.

I graduated from Southern Methodist University where I was trained to provide individual, group, couples, and
family therapy
to adolescents and adults.
I have worked with individuals with many struggles such as depression, substance use, anxiety, trauma, and bipolar disorder. My niche is in issues such as life transitions, cultural identity, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and self-compassion. I have an affinity towards multicultural, bi/multiracial, minority, and TCK individuals. TCKs, or third culture kids, are individuals who did not grow up in one or both of their parents’ passport country. These are individuals such as military kids, children of diplomats, emigrants, and refugees.

One of my passions is helping teens and the
family
system navigate through this critical stage of development.
In the midst of difficult times and challenges, we find opportunity. I believe that the moments we are pushed out of our comfort zone allow for personal growth and healing. I pull from several different approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I find that this creates a unique counseling experience for each client and provides a collaborative environment to explore.

During this consultation we can discuss what you are looking in a therapist and in therapy to make sure you or your
family
member are getting the best fit possible for your needs.
Does it feel like you or your child lack motivation or self confidence? Does it feel like you or your child are anxious almost all day? Does it feel like you and your child do not communicate? Feeling this way can impact how we feel about ourselves and how we navigate our daily life. Let's work together to overcome these feelings and change this internal dialogue. You should feel comfortable to share these experiences when and how you are ready, I believe the client is the expert in their own life and take this approach in therapy.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
