CS Lewis wrote that our passions are sleepy, that we are like little children who are easily pleased with making mud pies in a slum when we have no idea what it means to have a holiday at the sea. There is always more to life than what we can so easily settle for, and in journeying into the deeper parts of our hearts we can better know ourselves, and God, toward healing, and a more abundant life. Counseling can provide a safe place to walk through the struggles of life. Andrea's focus: adults 18+ for individual and couples counseling. Payment forms: Cr Card, Apple Pay, Cash App, cash. Andrea does not take insurance.

Accepting new clients! Do you feel overwhelmed, numb, or like you're just getting by? Are there events in your life that impact you but you don't have the tools to handle them? I understand, and you are not alone. I believe in providing a safe space for my clients, allowing them to share their concerns while offering practical tools for positive life change. Rather than focusing on a single issues I prefer to examine the whole picture, diving into different aspects of my clients’ lives. By addressing what may be hard or holding my clients back, I create a supportive environment for healing and growth.

You feel on edge, tired, and unlike yourself—yet life keeps demanding more from you. You’re showing up for your family, work, and relationships, but inside you feel drained, irritable, and strangely detached from the things you used to enjoy. Your body feels different, your moods swing, and you can’t always explain why. You’re ready to stop white-knuckling it through each day. You want to understand what’s happening, feel more grounded, and show up in your relationships without the constant tension. Most of all, you want to feel like you.

Anxiety has taken a hold of your life and left you feeling trapped in a negative feedback loop. Maybe you're at a loss for where to go next in life, afraid that you'll take a devastating misstep. You may be struggling from perfectionism, always beating yourself up for not being good enough. Or maybe you're a habitual people pleaser, constantly ignoring your own needs (and maybe struggling to even know what it is YOU want for yourself). What you do know is that you're overwhelmed and unsure why you can't break these painful cycles.

Life is hard. You know that – it’s why you’re here. Sometimes, it’s a struggle just to get out of bed in the morning. And when you do, the thought of showing up at school or work seems impossible. You might even be reaching for alcohol, substances, or other distractions just to help you get through the day. You’ve tried other things – like talking to friends or following your family’s advice – but nothing works. You end up feeling like a burden or a failure, which makes you feel even MORE dragged down by life. The anxiety, the depression... they've got to go. You can't go on feeling like you're trudging through mud with every step.

You deserve to feel seen and heard. I want my office to be a safe space for you to process through whatever is going on in your life. I have extensive experience working with clients with complex trauma, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. Being able to see my clients break out of the cycles they are stuck in and realize that they deserve better is one of the greatest gifts. In 2024 I became a Certified First Responder Counselor and have loved being able to use my trauma background to work with this population.

My ideal client is someone that needs someone to walk alongside them who is nonjudgmental, who listens, and cares deeply and wants to find solutions with them or sit in the "yuck" with them. They need a safe place to express emotions and to find peace, hope, and joy. They want a space for to feel deeply the pain and the joys and all the in between feelings that life can bring.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
