As an RN of 37 yrs with a specialty in Women's and
Family
Health, I have spent many hours with women of all ages.
Life is CHANGE. There is no getting around it. And some of our changes work us over more than others. Personal life coaching for women is uniquely suited to support women as we move through the various remarkable transitions of our lives. Anxiety, boundaries, body image issues, relationships, communication, Imposter Syndrome, healthy habits, caregiving, self-care, and grieving are a just some of the subjects that come up.

I view persons as made up of emotions, thoughts, relationships, biology, and our spiritual selves. Consequently, I first help you stabilize by making necessary changes in behavior. Medical or neurological contributions and possible nutritional deficiencies are examined. I address any distorted thinking that is contributing to your emotional pain. If systems in your life (
family
, work, school) are a factor, they are also addressed. Finally, we work with the larger questions of existence (spiritual issues, issues of purpose/ meaning), which are all vital to mental health. All areas are dealt with from a solid grounding in the science.

I help a diverse array of individuals in the areas of mental health,
family
, social, addiction, anger management, crisis intervention, and educational issues.
There is no shame in seeking assistance when things just aren't going well and occasionally, everyone needs help. Whether an adolescent or adult, you must want to be helped, willing to help yourself, and embrace change. I work best with individuals who accept and welcome an honest and direct approach. I tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. I also work with couples and families who need an outsider's objective perspective to improving communication and relationships. I believe in rational, logical choice and decision making. Seeing me for assistance when possibly required is a rational and logical choice.

I have a passion for learning how the mind works and how it interacts with many other systems (
family
, work, body, spirit) to create the individual as a whole. This helps me identify the power emotions and thought have over one’s life. My approach follows the idea of achieving a stage where my client no longer qualifies for a diagnosis.

The program at this Symetria clinic goes beyond traditional therapy to treat everything hiding behind the drugs or alcohol - all while still living at home! Treatment here helps you rebalance your brain, create healthy thought patterns and heal underlying issues (like trauma, anxiety, depression or
family
conflict).
Don't settle for a generic drug and alcohol therapist. You deserve help that actually helps you feel happy again. (And, that's in-network with your insurance).

I bring my expertise in child, adolescent and
family
to your expertise about your experience, so that we can work together to create an individualized plan that reflects who you or your children are to help you reach your goals for you and your
family
.
It takes a lot of courage to decide to look for help. It shouldn’t have to feel even riskier finding a therapist who you are comfortable with. I want you to feel like we are a good fit because therapy is like a long hike; sometimes there are steep inclines, sometimes there are beautiful views, but you definitely don’t want to hike with someone you’re not meshing with. Because this is so important, I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation, where you can come, meet me and get an idea of how I would approach working with you to find a way through what you are struggling with.

You don't have to suffer in siIence anymore. In our fast changing world, finding balance can be difficult and may even seem impossible at times. Feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and the thoughts of giving up make it hard to push forward when you have conflicting goals, objectives, and situations in your life. They can seem to happen all at once, and it feels like they are all demanding our energy, thoughts, and immediate choices in order to progress and change. Anxious or depressing thoughts and feelings accompany the trying times of life, and therapy can be a way to get yourself and/or your
family
up to optimal functioning.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
