Your relationships have a huge impact on your life satisfaction and happiness. Marriage and family therapy has been the focus of my training in my schooling and professional career. I use this approach (systems approach) to assist my individual, couple, and family clients. During my career I have had the opportunity to work at a hospital, school, and the court system, which all helped prepare me for private practice. I look forward to helping your family reach their goals in a holistic way.

She seeks to join with clients in exploring their relationships, significant events, and set specific goals tailored to the individual client in order to focus on those areas most important to him/her.
If you find yourself in a difficult place, let me be the first to say, you are not alone. We all have times in our lives when we need a voice of hope, a listening ear, and eyes to see beyond our current circumstances. Making the decision to seek support can be a humbling, yet extremely gratifying experience. What I hope to offer is a unique space where you can be yourself, learn about yourself, and more fully live into your true identity.

I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, relationship challenges, grief & loss, and medical diagnoses from birth or acquired later in life.
The key to reaching your goals is to identify what their purpose is to you. Some goals are too general. We will break them down into a specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound format. Interference with goals is putting an internal or external activity in the way of what is more important to you.

Are you finding yourself stuck in the same relationship patterns, struggling with anxiety, or carrying experiences from the past that continue to affect your life today?
Counseling is a collaborative process of understanding how your experiences, relationships, and environment influence your current struggles. Together, we identify patterns that are no longer serving you and explore whether healing requires change, acceptance, or a different way of approaching yourself and others.

I welcome ALL individuals, couples and families with an open, caring environment to explore issues of concern utilizing an unconditional positive regard.
“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” Carl Rogers “To my mind, empathy is in itself a healing agent. It is one of the most potent aspects of therapy because it releases, it confirms, it brings even the most frightened client into the human race. If a person is understood, s/he belongs.” Carl Rogers

I help by using Restoration Therapy and the Inner Child Model. This approach uses attachment, experiential, and narrative-based interventions focusing on developmental relationships and how they affect you currently by leading to negative ways of coping. Here, we look at possible past trauma and its influence on a negative sense of self.

Are relationship dynamics, family tension, or the patterns you keep repeating leaving you feeling stuck and disconnected from who you truly are?
I use a systemic approach because the environments, culture, childhood, genetics, and life experiences that shaped you all matter. I'm very intentional about creating an empowering, safe space where you can comfortably share what's on your mind — sessions are collaborative and geared toward your specific goals.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
