Hi! I'm Amie. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Fully Trained EMDR Therapist. I believe that when we can get to the root of our problems, we can truly begin to heal and gain relief. YOU deserve to feel peace and relief. I know how hard it can be to reach out for help. Let today be the day you start your healing journey.
**ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS** I have been in private practice for 6 years but I have a total of 15 years of counseling experience. During that 15 years, I have worked with several people with people from all walks of life with a wide range of struggles and it's always gratifying when they find relief and their symptoms begin to improve and, for many, disappear altogether.
I see clients who are hurting, grieving, tired, and overwhelmed. They need a safe place to sort out their thoughts, emotions, and past experiences. Many times clients are searching for coping skills to deal with stress. They are looking for direction, to begin new healthy habits, and to make a change. Their goals are to not let the past define them, but to forge forward, and discover peace even in the center of life's chaos. There's so much out of our control, but discovering what we can control impacts every other faucet of life. Clients can learn to respond to life, instead of react.
It can happen to anyone. Life is going along just fine, and then before you realize what happened, you find yourself in a tough situation you never expected. Coping with it has been far from easy, to say the least. You're not alone! If it's a traumatic event, if it's ongoing circumstances that impact your mood and overall functioning, perhaps I can help. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, as well as Solutions-Focused Therapy. I use a holistic approach; considering the whole person in their environment.
Sometimes an individual may just need skills to move through a “life transition,” clarify life goals, and prioritize steps for reaching those goals. This is more of a coaching situation, and I would love to coach you through this life transition. Finally, I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work.

“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive” -Brené Brown. Thank you so much for visiting my site. What I have learned about being a human, let alone a therapist, is that everybody has a story. My job is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to tell your story. Life can be very difficult for a multitude of reasons. Sometimes these struggles can feel overwhelming, leaving us confused and hopeless.

Life is challenging and life's expectations can be very demanding. My work as a therapist is to help individuals navigate life with support, understanding, and clarity. My passion is to walk with the client to help them understand the importance of their needs, worth, and purpose while providing a safe space. My span in care includes anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting support, grief, and much more. My goal is to serve with inclusivity in client population, regardless of what life a client may walk. As my client, I strive to obtain personalized care for you while being a supportive advocate for your needs.
Successful therapy begins by meeting the client where they’re at. As a clinical therapist with a background in social work, I believe therapy should be client-centered within a feeling of safety and trust. Client needs differ by individual. I pull techniques from various well-known therapies, including CBT, DBT, and solution-focused, to best work through the issues affecting the client on a daily basis. The techniques I use are unique to those needs, and I act as a guide, partnering with the client to find the best path to success.
Therapy is not something done TO you, it is a process done WITH you. I will be right by your side every step of the way to a healthier you. We will move up and down the mountains of your life together. I look at therapy as a joint process, where the therapist and client work together towards the client’s goals. Everyone deserves a safe place to be heard. It is a big step to seek help for life's ups and downs. I'd be honored to help you!
Do you find it difficult to focus especially when you're feeling stressed? Can regular, everyday activities seem like more than you can handle at times? I’m glad than you’ve taken this first step to seek support. I’m here to provide support and guidance as you take steps toward reaching those goals that seemed impossible at one point in your life.
We are all born with a need to feel secure, adequate, accepted, and valued. Counseling offers a safe space to share your fears and hurts as you navigate the path towards healing. It’s an opportunity to discover personal strengths, and work in areas where you might feel stuck. It allows the time and space to share your stories, your struggles, and your desires. You can gain the tools you need to achieve your goals and make the healthy and lasting changes necessary to steer your life in the direction that you want to go.
My purpose is to simply join you in understanding where you are, help comprehend where you want to be, and explore a plan on how you will get there. I believe everyone needs a listening ear, and my desire is for you to do well!
Do you feel off your game? Unfocused? “Like butter spread across too much bread” as the great Bilbo Baggins once said? I have experience working with dissociative disorders, addiction, anger, burnout, and those that just feel off their game.
