I believe that every person has inherent value, and was uniquely made for this Earth. Most people saw the best in themselves and others, when at some point they were overcome with disappointment, hurt, or other of life's challenges. When this happens they may find themselves asking, "Who is there to listen without judgement?, or "Who can I tell what happened when I think nobody will understand?" These people want to have a life worth living, but feel like it's too much to navigate on their own.

If children came with instruction manuals, parenting would be so much easier; but they don’t, and being a parent is one of the most difficult jobs in today’s busy world. As a parent, I understand how difficult it can be to manage, teach, and help your child overcome adversities to reach his or her potential. When your child struggles, your teen lashes out, or they are crippled with anxiety, you may feel frustrated or overwhelmed… or both. As a professional, my passion is helping parents and their children, tweens, teens and young adults through life’s challenges--to feel competent to handle their lives.

My ideal clients are adults who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or emotional overwhelm—often high-functioning on the outside but internally exhausted from overthinking, self-doubt, or trying to maintain control. Many come to me when what they’ve been doing is no longer working. They’re not looking for surface-level support—they want real change. Based on my 25 years of experience, I usually recommend a holistic and objective assessment of the problems as part of the solution. These assessments include understanding, first and foremost, the needs of the individual. These can include anxiety, depression, ADHD, peer issues, family problems, stress, and many other things. I treasure the insight the individuals bring to the conversation with their questions, concerns, observations, and overall experiences. I bring these understandings to my therapy sessions and welcome those involved with the individual to lead the individual towards a more passionate, kind, fulfilling life.

I specialize in counseling and cognitive rehabilitation for the mental health needs of brain injury survivors.
No two brain injuries or their recovery needs are the same. My treatment plans usually involve a combination of neurotrauma education, cognitive rehabilitation, counseling therapy, and adaptive/compensatory skill development. It's important to me that clients have the space to discuss their injury experience while we work towards rehabilitation goals.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists
When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?
People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?
Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?
The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?
If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
